What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

I think in movies like Platoon, and the Boondock Saints, where his delivery and, let's say accent, can mesh with the material he does well. And even as the Green Goblin in spiderman because, let's face it, he has the face of a goblin. But things like the last temptation of christ, body of evidence, and even Aquaman in that minor supporting role he just seems so out of place. Like "hey this guy is Willem Dafoe, but isn't he supposed to be Aquaman's mentor or something?" I don't mind the guy generally, and in some stuff he was pretty great (Platoon, one of my favs) but so often he just seems out of place. And he is often wooden in his acting, too methodical. You see this in Spiderman for one. I would place him in the "ok" category of actors imo.

True, I mean when he's in bad movies I guess he's not great. I generally stay away from those to begin with though.

I think he is a good actor but yeah, he was out of place in Aquaman (and I would include Spiderman). They are terrible movies though. Not my cup of tea. Haven't watched Platoon in aaaages, probably now it's a good time to rewatch it.

He’s fantastic in To Live and Die in LA. A great effing movie if you’ve never seen it. Absolutely fantastic. Friedkin I think.

I need a good pick me up

Have you ever seen a movie called "Secret of the Roan Inish"?

It's an Irish movie but one of my all time favorites.

Pretty much everything was out of place in Aquaman.

Great list.

It's been some time since I watched Ida but I can still remember some shots. Great directing.

City of God has been my go to 'favorite movie' when asked.

Have you watched Nebraska?

Hard to pick a favorite movie. Godfather I&II are still very high on my list along with some of the foreign movies I posted. I'm also a big Kubrick fan.

Yeah, with Bruce Dern right? I remember his acting was amazing. Great movie.

Right now I'm downloading Secret of the Roan Inish (@DasJazz advice...it's taking forever by torrent, probably downloading it directly from his computer :D), Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Kieślowski's Three Colors trilogy.

That's true. I only went with it only when pressured. I don't even think it would be on my top 10 list, lol.

Spirit of the Beehive is probably my fave movie of all-time, though. I haven't seen it recommended much.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire was quite good. I liked it.

Have fun watching!
