What's the Next Move?

Can we take back DFS into one our exceptions?

The Nets are still pretty far over the LT. Does Joe Tsai want to pay a big bill for a mediocre play in type team?

Would yall give up the Sixers first for DFS?

The Clarkson situation will be interesting to watch. Since we're not hearing much buzz about him, my assumption is he is staying. I'm guessing we have a really good understanding of what he is looking to make in his next contract and if he is looking to stay here. We might be a little foolish to think those things won't change by the offseason, but I'm currently under the impression we are going to throw some money at him, even though that's not what I would do.

As far as KO, I think we've seen that Ainge clearly doesn't value 2nd round picks and he wants cap space next year. I doubt we can get a first for KO, and especially not unless we take back bad salary. It feels like KO isn't going anywhere.

I swear there has never been a concrete rumor or string of rumors around JC. Feels like every other player has been part of some sort of trade rumor from the past 3 years besides Clarkson. You never hear "Team X is interested in Jordan Clarkson"

Here is the next move. We also get a pick swap in 2027 we can use with any 4 of the picks we own that year. Kyle apparently has a knee injury and the relationship with the team is fractured... they have a problem.

We can move a pick or two on draft night so I don't care about have 4 firsts this year.

Why would we do that when we are tanking? That doesn't make any sense for a 30 years old player.

If you trade Clarkson I dont think DFS is going to be a huge needle mover on a team where you are giving guys like THT/Ochai/Simone/Udoka major minutes.

Wait, I thought "every contender" could use him?

What is the context?

There's only 6 players in the huddle. Clarkson isnt the only Jazz player not in that huddle.
That was the end of the third quarter. I think he was on the bench for the fourth so makes sense but still interesting.

I still have this sinking feeling Sexton is going to get dealt. Seems like every report has mentioned the "core" as being Lauri/WK/Ochai. Why arent the reporters mentioning Sexton who is young, performing well from a stats standpoint, and under long-term contract?

Looks to me most of the team is there listening outside of JC. I believe he's not happy as there were other scenarios too.

I'd certainly be looking to move Clarkson to take back future value. Kelly as well, but I don't think he has much value.

I'd be looking to take back bad money like Fournier/Robinson sorts to get a real decent asset (I'd prefer it be a young player vs a pick just cause we need interesting guys to fill out the rotation) vs a couple 2nds.

I don't see anything other than multi-year full-on tanking / playing all rookies as a feasible option now.

This summer the Jazz have matching salaries to use only on one major deal, and that's probably including Sexton. The summer after that you'd have to include the guys you've just added as free agents. And the agents for those players will tell their clients that.

So it's consolidating all of the picks to move up, pick loads of players and actually play all the rookies. Because the Jazz are quite limited suddenly with the trades they can do with those picks - unless the rules on salary matching suddenly change.

That scenario also probably means Lauri is out sooner or later.

Ainge likes to field a competitive team and add talent using other teams' picks.
