What's The Saddest Song You've Ever Heard?

I cried listening to this song when I broke up with my ex-gf of 4 years..

If you really listen to the lyrics.. it's really really heart wrenching..

It also came from Knopfler's own heartbroken experience...

"Juliet when we made love you used to cry ... You said I love you like the stars above, I'll love you till I die... "

kkk's post reminded me of a song I sent to an (ex)-GF after we had a big fight and broke up

Ok, my last nomination. And the absolute saddest song for me. Takes me back to the first young woman I ever loved. And after 30 years, I haven't gotten over her completely. This song still makes my eyes tear up and brings back a touch of heartache. She was that special to me, even though she didn't feel the same.

"Sometimes a love won't let go
Hard as I try I know it shows
Everybody's telling me
You'll be over her eventually"

This is #1 of all time, the famous song about Eric Clapton's son who had died at just 4 years old... falling out of a NYC apartment window.

Good call.

Another that came to mind was Springsteen's post-9/11 song about those who had to carry on:

I expect reps from every Mormon on this board, at least those who are in their 40's or so. Do you all remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2do-v36CEbw
