Yeah I guess we'll see how much of that is posturing when they can't get one of those guys. Maybe Lebron subtly hints he would like some more help after a loss and they cave. It's happened before although with a different GM.
Sure, we can chase that pick, along with lots of other things. I would be happy if we got it but I think its very unlikely. I think getting the trade I proposed is much more likely and I would be happy ending up with Mirotic and Crowder.

They could also do better than Favors and Hood for that pick.

That’d be an absolute dream.

We are fans - we don't know anything. We can purely speculate. The Cavs should and will do everything possible to build around what they currently have.

Unless a Gasol, Paul George or other really good player comes available, there aren't really great players available via trade. So the Cavs will trade either their pick or Brooklyn's. Its inevitable. Those are the only assets they have that they can afford to lose, and neither pick is a franchise changer.

Even if they decide to trade Love, I don't think there are many buyers out there for him. Who has what Cleveland needs AND wants Love?

I disagree. People are inflating the value on that pick. Even if the roster improves enough to make it to another Finals, that pick is worth trading. For as much as people want to dream that is a top 3 pick, its not. If Cleveland is worried about losing that, they could protect it.

Hell, the Cavs could trade us the Brooklyn pick and **** expirings for Favors and Hood. They could put a top 7 protection on it. For the Cavs, getting 2 NBA starter quality players is more important than hoping a #8-12 pick is worth a crap. Their window is slamming shut and they need players.

All the BS happening there makes it much less likely they trade that pick.

Bruh it ain’t happening. LBJ is leaving that pick helps them rebuild.

There are 2 franchise fan bases pleading for a trade right now - Utah and Cleveland. I would be an irate fan on either side if no deal is done regardless of the size. Not necessarily with Utah and Cleveland directly, but both teams need to make a deal.

Don’t worry — it there’s no trade we’ll have plenty of people saying that there must have just not deals out there, that they didn’t want to compromise the future by trading valuable assets, that we didn’t want to sacrifice valuable cap space by taking back bad contracts, that nobody was offering anything good, and rationalizing that Mirotic just isn’t that good anyway and playing up how the entire franchise sided with Portis.

With every loss we have less reason to pony up for Niko. Dude is being a good soldier right now and we may end up getting him for seconds at the deadline or he will tank his value second half of the season because he’s pissed and we get him this offseason.

Just listened to dunc’d in podcast talking about him and I’m fairly convinced we strengthen our position on that one by waiting.

We will make a deal but it likely won’t be until a day or two before the deadline... every team is in a holding pattern right now.

I think we need to pull the bandaid now. We are heading for a catastrophic path to the deadline.

Trade JoeJ and Hood to Cleveland for Frye, Osman and their pick (not the Brooklyn pick). Yes, we only get Osman and a late first for Hood but we move on.

Then trade Favors and Burks to Atlanta for expirings.

Just clean house, pick up Osman, get a late 1st, and open up cap room for summer we can play with.

I’m trying to temper my expectations but I wouldn’t be surprised with one small move that really makes no sense, like trading Jerebko for a 2021 second round pick and then buying out Joe Johnson.
