Pit Bulls were bread to fight other dogs. They also were bread to have no human aggression what so ever. If a pit showed signs of aggression towards humans they were put down. They had to be sure when in the ring with two dogs trying to kill each other that the dogs would not hurt the handlers or officials. So yes, pits are extremely strong and their jaw strength is 3 times that of any other breed. But they are some of the most loyal, well behaved dogs you'll ever see. They are terrible guard dogs, they'll just lick you to death. They were Americas original breed and once a sign of strength.
Problem with pits is that if something does go wrong, wether due to a bad owner or otherwise, it's going to happen fast and it's going to be brutal. Also, when the media hear's of a pit attack it's headline news. If a lab attacks someone they could care less and you'd never hear about it.
It's on the owner to be sure their dog is well trained and socialized. I've been around them my whole life and find them to be the sweetest dogs out there. True champions.
I could go on and on. Basically, they are amazing dogs. But they are extremely powerful and you better be a responsible owner.
