What's new

Which of the following would you give up for Jimmer?

Magical, right?

Also, what's google?

Could it be man crush? Reverse psychology?

You say something bad about someone that you actually like. Then someone else say sympathetically "No.. he's not that bad". Then you say "Oh yeah that's true.. he's actually a nice guy".

Is there a reason we're discussing Jimmer? Is he on the block? Have they been seeking second rounders for him? Washed up veterans? CJ Miles?

Anyone remember that guy who used to come in at the end of games and shoot 3s against us? I'm thinking Eddie Jordan, but, not sure if that's right. I just remember when ever he checked into a game it was because he was going to be launching 3s.

Are you talking about "Fast" Eddie Johnson of the Rockets back in the late 90's?

Yeah, that's the guy, Eddie Johnson. Used to kill the Jazz.

So, could Jimmer work into an Eddie Johnson type role?

Right now sactown is begging teams to take him off their hands before the fans turn on them but a SnT for miles sounds good to me. We would have to give them Watson so we don't have 4 pgs on the roster

FYI Jimmer is shooting 1 for 12 in summer league so far.

He is living up to the phrase 14 day honeymoon make two week.

Tomic was teammates with Kyle Singler this past season. Stat-wise, I think, Tomic is at least comparable to Singler. After Singler's quality SL showing, I'd still far rather hang on to NBA rights to Tomic than play with the fire that is Jimmer near Provo.

1) Kings would want more than anything we'd be willing to give up.

2) Even if we could get him for a steal, Jazz won't do it. Wayyy too much of a distraction to the rest of the team and coaches.

Personally, I wouldn't mind having him at the end of the bench as a situational shooter, if he was going for cheap, but not with the baggage he comes with. I think his cheering section pretty much sealed his fate of never playing here, by chanting to put him in and cheering against the Jazz. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but very unlikely.

Jeremy Evans: No
Earl Watson: Yes
Kevin Murphy: Yes
2013 Jazz 1st (lotto protected): No
Rights to Ante Tomic: Yes
S&T CJ Miles + 2013 2nd: Yes

In response to freak and others that have mentioned the baggage Jimmer would have here in Utah, I agree. However, if Jimmer manages to have a long career (and by long I mean sticking around another 3 or 4 years after his rookie contract) then enough time may have passed to where it wouldn't be such a distraction.

In Utah that will never happen. Enough time for this to blow over here is probably 15 years. He was the most hyped player in this state since....Well since I can remember. The odds of his popularity here declining enough for it to not be a huge distraction are non-existant. And if for some reason his popularity here does decline enough it is because he has been proven to be a terrible NBA player and then why the hell would we want him?

It could. It's only been one year. Even if he's just a half-decent NBA player, I think Jimmermania would have died down six or seven years down the road.

I think it has dropped a lot give it another year or 2 of crappy basketball and he will be forgotten.

It has dropped because he's not here. If he were on the team and good enough for them to keep around. Then the hype surrounding him would not drop. There would always be the fans of his from around here begging for him to play over whomever was playing in front of him. So the distraction he would cause for this team would never be worth it unless he was a superstar.

At this point shouldn't the Kings pay somebody to take him? And if the jazz want him why not just wait and see if Kings pick up the option on his rookie contract. If not, the Jazz can bid against some team from Belgium for Jimmer's services.
