Taking into account minutes played, age, and salary which of these players would you rather have on your team? Names have been redacted to avoid bias from creeping in. If you know the answers please don't reveal them. After a sufficient number of people have answered I'll reveal which players they are and see what the reaction is. Assume that both players play the same position and are the same height.

Player 1: 38.0 mpg, 16.0 ppg, 7.3 apg, 4.2 rpg, 43.7% FG%, 28.2% 3PFG%, 17.76 PER, 28 years old, $5.2 million salary

Player 2: 36.3 mpg, 18.2 ppg, 8.3 apg, 3.8 rpg, 37.2% FG%, 33.3% 3PFG%, 17.6 PER, 27 years old, $16.3 million salary

I hate doing these because attitude, heart, coachability and things like that play heavily on my decision of who I would want.

Player two is better in most categories but not 11.1 million better. Again this is strictly numbers. The things I mentioned above could make all the difference in the world in who is th ebetter player and what they are really worth.

So based of just these numbers I say player 1.

Assume it's a wash. After I reveal names, if you want to change your answer feel free to say as much.

If I'm the one writing the paycheck I want player 1. But still, the low FG% is a problem even if you take out salary. I'd go with player 1.

I'd figure player 2 will return to pre-wrist injury form soon enough.

I'd figure player one is on a team that brings out the best in him too.

You low down cheating no good hustler. You are not supposed to know who they are so all the intangibles cannot affect your decision. Cheater.

psst...want to start placing my bets? 10% for you off the top...

Injuries to a team's best player tends to make other players' stats better. I bet the STING of the FIRST player's stats will go down once Flash heals.

EDIT: look below.

Oh, and to have full disclosure. Career numbers.

Player 2: 35.7 MPG 17.2 PPG 9.2 APG 3.3 RPG 45.9 FG% 35.3 3P% 80.9 FT% 18.9 PER
Player 1: 27.4 MPG 10.5 PPG 4.1 APG 2.7 RPG 44.5 FG% 34.7 3P% 85.1 FT% 14.1 PER

EDIT: Oops, got the player number mixed up. It has now been corrected.

A little payback for ruining my Alex treyBurk fun. :) To be fair though, you made it more than obvious who one player is and I didn't out the second nor do I care to know who it is yet. Age, contract, reasonably high assists, sagging numbers, a Jazz board... I'm sure everyone was thinking CP3.

My comments were based on the salaries and ages you listed. I take the higher salary player if I could afford him as the numbers probably don't tell much of the story.

The first one doesn’t jack up three pointers with how low his percentage is (2.6/gm), and the second one seems to throw up threes at will (5.6/gm). 1 is ranked 163 on defense (Synergy), and 2 is ranked 308.

Yeah, I hate guys that jack up three pointers. Sometimes, though, you just have to grin and bear it. A Bear-it-jack, if you will.

Actually, now I am curious who player one is. That's excellent production for the money. Age and contract say breakout year though.

My first thought was Felton, but the contract is too low. If Felton's shooting was a bit better then I would prefer him at the point and spend the rest of the money elsewhere. He's one of the best values in the NBA and is good enough for the spot. Considering money I could be more than happy with option 1 but the team would have to be built around a strong 2 guard and 4/5. I'd be happy with Earl Watson if the 2 and 3 wasn't so weak.

Chose player 1. But but FTa/g, FT%, and defensive ability could definitely change the answer. In the end player 2 is not playing up to their contract amount.
