What's new

who around here is going to the games?

I'd show up if my wife didn't work 13 hour Mondays. At least I get to sleep in for once with kids on xmas break (knock on wood, the little ****s will wake up early on non-school days as usual).

I'll be there, but you won't see me from your sweet seats unless you look up, probably with binoculars.

Kill me now. MsSerp is prego with number two. I dread the early mornings and wifey working late nights, me being Mr. Mom after school, never having a moment to breathe.

Can't wait til their 18.

My 2 year old only sleeps about 4 hours a night and takes 1 30 minute nap a day. That's it. She isn't mean or fussy during the day, she's fine. Just doesn't need the sleep and it is killing me. Slowly, painfully.

Also I wish I was at the Jazz game. Cheer them in person. I will be going this spring with tax money come hell or high water.

I don't think that's physically possible. She should see a doctor.

She has. Everything is perfectly fine. Everything is developing on or ahead of schedule. She is very smart, counts to 10, knows her colors, is learning shapes and letters and knows all her Disney princess. She is only 2 (thankfully she takes after her mom). She is happy, alert, active, eats well and a great imagination. She even uses "Damn it" in context lol

The only abnormality is that she does not sleep that much.

The only time she sleeps all night is when my 13 year old is over to visit (then the whole family is under one roof). Other than that she wakes up frequently and plays in her room or the playroom. The dark doesn't slow her down at all. She marches out into the dark with her little stool and puts it in front of the light switch she wants to turn on. Turns it on then gets down to business.

I have started leaving her and my door open at night and have the dogs roam. My Rot/Lab mix, Nana, follows her around like she gives milk.

I did that schedule for a while to minimize daycare to a couple of hours a day. It wasn't nearly as bad as what I've been doing the last 6 years (4 13.5 hour days and don't see my wife on the 5th). I can't do anything during the week, and wouldn't want to even if I could. Getting all of them into grade school is the holy grail at this point. I can drink coffee on the porch while watching them walk to school in the house I'm building.

It's possible. My oldest slept 6 hours a night max plus two 15 minute naps until he was about two. Most of those night hours sleeping were being rocked to sleep. It was a six hour block, not six hours of sleep.

My wife and I were at times clinically insane from lack of sleep.

Then have her genome sequenced and send me the results. I'm sick of wasting a third of life sleeping.

By the weekend I am so worn down...

We have tried movies, no movies, night lights, total darkness, dogs in her bed, not in her bed, in a room with a sister, in a room with her baby brother, in a room by herself, drinks and snacks at bed time and without. Nothing changes her sleep pattern. I refuse to bring her into bed with my wife and I. I will wait it out till she is old enough and I don't have to be alert anymore.

At this point I just accept that this is her and find ways to make it doable.

6 hours of sleep for 2 years old? That's abnormally low and I am all for children deciding when to wake up. 12 hours is the recommended iirc.
