Ace plays defense like he learned about defense the day before the game. He's not opposed to the concept, but he has very little idea of how to do it.

He probably could eventually end up being like MPJ on defense, but it's going take many years if it ever happens.

VJ doesn't play as hard as you'd like, but VJ is a billion times smarter than Ace and knows what to do on every defensive possession.

I wouldnt characterize VJ as a high IQ defender. He's an athletic defender.

I'll take the 6'9 athlete over the 6'5 athlete.

Ace is nowhere close to where MPJ was athletically in HS, Ace REALLY struggles to get separation and has nowhere close to MPJ's release point in HS.

He's pretty similar to post back surgeries MPJ.

His issues with separation have nothing to do with his athleticism.
 
Ace's separation issues have more to do with his willingness to hunt tough shots, core strength, and just inexperience. The tools are there. He's extremely athletic.
