Who has a better chance at winning ROY Kanter or Burks?

At first, I was thinking Kanter, because he can play the 4 or 5, but then realized Burks can play 1, 2, or 3.

To get playing Tim Kanter needs to compete with Favors, Millsap, and Big Al, and maybe Memo too. Burks is competing for playing time with Hayward, Cj, and Bell, and maybe Ak. Too me Kanter is going to have a harder time getting minutes, as they are deeper up front. All Burks has to do is beat out bell to be the first or second wing off the bench, plus he could get time at pg.

Burks because he has a better opportunity to get minutes. With all due respect to Gordon Hayward, the reality is the 2/3 positions are wide open.

Kanter will probably spend most of the year coming off the bench and I suspect he will be crushed by the rookie wall. I don't care how great an athlete he is supposed to be; the 82 game schedule (assuming no lockout) is a marathon that no one can run if they haven't been playing competitively as long as Kanter has.

Kanter hasn't played in 2 years. I don't understand why people think he is going to come in an dominate. He is going to struggle.

I don't think he is going to struggle as much as you do. There will be a learning curve. However, he is a smart kid and I can see him getting the system down a lot sooner than most. I also think he is going to be an asset as far as rebounding goes early on as well as scoring a few buckets here and there. Kind of like Favors. Burks however has the best opportunity for ROY though IMO. He has the opportunity to play more minutes from the start.

I am going to go with Burks but that is because of the chip on his shoulder. I would really like to see Hayward, Favors, Burks and Kanter in the rookie sophomore game this all-star break. That would be amazing and it would show how much these kids would have grown already.

Burks... I said in another post that the only players who strike me as potential ROY winners are DWill, Jimmer, and Burks... because ROY usually goes to the best scorer... I could see Kemba making a push though.

It's possible half are team could be in both the all-star and rookie/sophomore games that would be amazing.

i dont know about kanter but if we arent shorthanded on the wing, burks cant win ROY at all. You cant compete with all those players getting 30-35 min per game like irving, rubio... I doubt even hayward will get so many mins, in this case Burks cant win it at all. He should work too hard to compensate his weaknesses and think about how to be a good bench player rather than winning ROY at first.

I'll be happy if either makes a serious impact before the all-star break. (if you can't tell, I'm strongly implying that neither will win the ROY).

Well of course neither of them will probably win, but the question is which person has the better chance. Stop being negative nancys.

Raja's going to get his minutes. Sad but almost certainly true.

Oh God please no. If it were Sloan coaching, I'd be certain of it, but maybe Corbin will be different.

I'd be thrilled if Smell didn't get his sorry arse off the bench more than 5 minutes a game. He well and truly sucks.

Excellent points. Bigs usually take longer to develop as well.

Burks can get as many minutes as he's ready for. If he plays amazing, Jazz can easily start him at SG and Hayward moves/stays at SF. I don't see the same with Kanter. He won't start over Jefferson. He won't get as many minutes as Favors.

Burks is much more likely to get serious minutes than Kanter. The Jazz are way thinner at the wing. Still I guess he only gets @20 MPG which is not enough for ROY.

IMO Jimmer and Walker have the best chances of taking it. If DWill was anywhere but Minny I'd back him.
