What's new

who here has a criminal record?

I know everybody has been being as false as possible but I've been in there.

Know several things. Jail is just like regular life only smaller. There is no point to bitching, and if you do you'll inevitably be responded to by somebody that has it worse. Nobody cares what you did. The food will be awful and if you are lucky there will be some sort of outdoor activity you can look forward to. Keep your head down and get out as soon as possible. Do not go in with the "kick ***" mentality.

I was only in local jails. Hope this helps people who actually go in for more than a week.
Sounds like High School.

I was convicted of a misdemeanor because I let two kids (7 and 4) go to a friends house, and then the younger one wandered off by herself.

The terrible religious culture of Utah tends to not criminalize threats to society like you & sides with parents as "innocent". Frickin religs.

Seriously though, that sounds like a pretty retarded charge.

Would yo ubelieve theyinitially charged me with a felony? We had money for a good lawyer, so got a pretty good plea (lowest-level misdemeanor, and we paid more for the lawyer than we paid to the court). W3e didn't want to pay for a trial.

The neighbor kids come over last weekend with their newly adopted sister who's 2.5 y.o. They all left for home and the older two (5 & 7 I think) came back several minutes later. I inquired about the little girl and they claimed she was at home with mommy, but wandered in front of my house about 5 minutes later looking for them.

That really ticked me off and I made them tattle on themselves. :) Problem is, I can't figure who should do hard time in prison here. Me for letting them walk home alone after they came over alone, their parents, or these two children who didn't watch their sister. I think 6 months in the pen for the children is the optimal response. Does anyone know the number for 9-11 so I can turn them in?

No, my kids.

The one who wandered off did wander onto a local street. I think there was a strong reaction to that.

Is this the one with autism? One neighbor kid (5) is on the lower end of the autism spectrum and doesn't go far from home, but nobody takes issue with him being out with his younger sister.

There are plenty of 4 year olds in my neighborhood wandering around all the time. Usually with slightly older children but often not and with a younger sibling in tow. Personally, that's not for me and mine, but nobody seems to take issue with it.

Their parents. Definetely them. Unsupervised visits with frank? Yikes.

Not really. We believe she has a form of Aspergers, but she's never been tested, and for the most part is close to grade level. Technically, my oldest does not have autism, but PDD-NOS with autism-like symptoms.

I think her being in the street was the big factor in people noticing.

I'd put the 5 and 7 year old sibs in jail for a month or so. They need to be yanked before this kind of behavior turns into truancy, then drugs, then who knows what .. It's for their own good.

Waterboard them.

^^ franklin, I searched your avatar&sig and I found "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift. It looks like a great sarcastic satire about Irish-British history which I'm deeply interested in. So thanks for that.

It's a fantastic read, and it's quick. I highly recommend it. For added humor, just realize, that a lot of politicians at the time did not read it as a satire and took Swift seriously.

Why, sir, would you place them as a charge upon the state, or the parish, when they could, on the contrary, contribute to the nourishment, and somewhat to the clothing of many others?

Because I'm a no good dirty republican .. And i am dodging your question, too.

Crazy laws in Tennessee:

- You can’t shoot any game other than whales from a moving automobile.
- It is illegal to transport an ice cream cone in your pocket.
So your saying that isn't ice cream in your pocket and your just really happy to see me?

Also yes I do thanks for asking, plead down a felony down to a misdemeanor, moral of the story know/watch who you give rides to .

What OneBlow failed to mention is that before the kid went into the street, he forced him to stroke his furry walls.
