I wouldn't expect him to be a generational shot blocker in the nba. I think he will still be a good but being a pf/sf will pull him towards the perimeter defensively.

He doesn't have a ton of role player ability, so that gives him a narrow range of outcomes to succeed. Like THT, when he's in the game he's going to have a lot of impact on the game for better or worse. Collier can really only play by dominating the ball. If he does it well, he can be a star....but being a dominant ball handler worthy of those touches is one of the hardest ways to succeed in the NBA.

Right, which is why I say I love the value at #29. I guess what I mean is that there's a high chance he's not in the league or struggling to be in the league in 4 years.

it's all we have to go on - in combination with his season's 34% which i nearly always mention at the same time. also, take it up with Zanik. he's the one who isn't concerned with Collier's shot. if the jazz aren't concerned, i'm not concerned.

It's quite literally not all we have to go on. And we have things beyond 3FG% to go, things that have shown more value in predicting future shooting. A FO member hyping up the guy he just drafted doesn't exactly relieve any of my concerns either.

so your argument is that zanik is full of crap? that he's just hyping him up and doesn't really believe what he's saying? lol. you're adorable.

I agree. Even if he will not be good enough to be a permanent starter, Collier can play several roles on the bench. He can be a floor general of the bench, a microwave scorer, or simply someone who can exploit the matchups and bully opposing PGs built like Keyonte and Dillingham (there aren't many of them but you are more likely to find slow or physically weak guards in the opposite bench units). I think that his floor is being at least a reliable rotation player off the bench.

Yeah, JZ saying "he needs to work on his shot but his form is fine" doesn't exactly change my tone on his shooting. I thought his form always looked fine, so JZ saying his form is fine has actually had zero impact on me. Did you think his form was broken and JZ showed you the light?

It's adorable if you don't think a FO guy will go out of his way and say nice/generous things about the player they just drafted. His comments were extremely mild in the first place. If he went out and said Collier is extremely good shooter that would be one thing. JZ said he needs to work on his shot, his form looks fine, he's not used to shooting a lot bc he never had to, and also reminded the media why they drafted him (not shooting).

At the end of the day, the indicators are what they are. Words aren't going to change. Anyone with the shooting results/volume Collier had should come with concerns.
 
I could easily see any of the 3 being the starting PG in 4 years and at a high level. If Keyonte comes out and dominates summer league for 1 1/2 games and then leaves I'll be pretty high on him. If he is still has poor efficiency and getting crushed on screens I'll still have hope but down on him a bit.

Sexton has always been a good scorer but he's been pretty selfish and bad vision until the last half or maybe a little longer of the season. I could see him taking another step and really cementing himself as the starting PG. He's a hard worker and at that age where he is getting more mature but still has a chip on his shoulder.

Collier has all the tools and court vision to be elite. I need to see him in the NBA first though. If he can still bully his way to the basket in the NBA and is willing to be coached I'll be very high on him.

I've probably never been lower on our PG situation than the start of last season. I feel completely opposite this year. THT, Sexton, and Clarkson at the start of last year made by eyes bleed. One of them fixed things though.

Anyways I'm voting Keyonte for now. But who knows in a month.
