It was too loud. Probably a great concert for those who have never seen them but I saw them in their prime in 1991 and in 2012 with Axl and an amazing backup band and they aren't even close. In 2012 Axl still sounded pretty damn good, now he's impressive for his age and all that abuse of his vocal chords but a far cry from his best. I wouldn't have paid but my wife's vendor took us so it was still cool to go.

Nice. I saw them in the summer of '88. Unbelievable concert. They were truly ground-breaking in their time. Changed the music scene with appetite for destruction. I'm not sure I'd want to see them now. I've seen a few aging bands. My favorite, Hall & Oates, still holds up pretty well, we've seen them a dozen times or so. Saw Blue Oyster Cult maybe 15 years ago and they were fantastic. Small venue, more intimate setting, but wow were they consummate professional musicians first and foremost. One of my favorite concerts. Then saw The Tubes. They didn't age as well and they made the set-up way way too loud to compensate or something. Ended up being pretty bad. It's hit and miss with aging bands for sure.

I'd pay to go see Hall and Oates before G&R. If the singer can still sing older bands can be amazing as their musicianship doesn't usually diminish much if at all. Counting Crows at Red Butte were unbelievably bad. That dude has completely lost his voice and they are ripping people off by still touring.

The worst concert I've ever been to is Bob Dylan, about 20 years ago. His voice was never good, but has gotten inexplicably much worse. He didn't play any of his old songs, only songs from a newer album which I was unfamiliar with. I was looking forward to going because I thought he would talk a lot and tell some amazing stories. He didn't talk at all. Very disappointing.
 
I saw Public Image Limited back in 1987, Royal Oak, Michigan, good concert, John Lydon does well handling concert problems, like people throwing handfuls of change at him.
 
I haven't been to a concert in a long time, but when I was in high school I was really in to classic rock and saw a bunch of older bands perform: KISS, ACDC, Aerosmith, etc. All of those concerts were awesome, but I guess I was young, maybe I really didn't know.

GNR is one of my all time favorite bands. It's disappointing to hear that their concert wasn't great.

When I was 14, I thought Bob Dylan had probably died ages ago.

That was in 1992.

I believe you intended to write 1887 good sir. And I hold serious reservations that particular musical artistic grouping were touring in that particular era.

Seriously if you get the chance go see Hall and Oates. They used to come regularly to one of the casinos in Wendover. Again smaller venue, better setting, and they were great interacting with the crowd. Love those guys. They've adapted well for fading vocals, so it's still impactful.
