Who Was Worse: Rookie Cody or Rookie Dante?

Dante was never really “that” terrible imo. He was made of glass (maybe still and I’ll always root for him). So far Cody does not appear to be made of glass. To my eye, he’s starting to fill out, and if he continues and stays healthy, that should make all the difference in his career arc I believe.

He was pretty bad

Only 6 games, but hard to be as bad as Cody has been so I’ll just speak to how I’m feeling about them as prospects.

I’m a huge Dante stan so take words with a grain of salt, but I thought Exum still demonstrated more potential through his struggles. Physically, Exum needed some development but he had some elite tools. His size+speed combo was unique but was severely limited by his handle. Cody, on the other hand, is more behind physically. Despite being taller he came into the league like 20 lbs lighter. With Exum I felt like he just needed a summer to get bigger and improve his handle, promise was around the corner and it was easier to imagine something good coming. With Cody, it’s probably going to take a lot longer. Besides his length his physical tools are not exceptional. As of right now, is not particularly great either.

Dante was sucking wind but still had a better motor. He could put pressure on the primary ball handler on a pretty historic D. The one guy who didn't need to funnel everything into Rudy. What could have been, if not for being catastrophic at the rim. Cody would have been interesting in that role.

Cody is unprecedented levels of skinny combine with having a low motor. These are two problems that compound on each other.

Exum played all 82 games his rookie year. Cody missed games last year to a couple injuries. So how do you know Cody isn’t made of glass he’s played 5 games. Lol. I’m not saying he is made of glass but how do you know he’s not.
