Who would win in a battle of the Dream Teams?

In all honesty I have always hated the argument that any team from the past could play with a team from the current. Players nowadays are bigger,stronger, faster, have better training, nutrition, coaching etc ..... It is so unfair to compare teams from different eras for that reason alone.
 
But damn man what a *** kicking it would be. Honestly I do not think that the Lebron advantage that everyone is giving to 2012 is as big as they think. Lebron has never had to deal with a defender like Pippen. Pippen is fast and strong enough to keep up with Lebron. Lebron is the better athlete but I think Pippen would intimidate the hell out of him and take Lebron right out of his game. Pippen would eat him alive mentally.

That's true when talking about teams from back in the 50's or 60's, but the team from the 90's, no doubt in my mind, was bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic than the team today.

Ewing, Barkley, Malone and Robinson would rip any memeber of the 2012 team in half with the excpetion of Howard. Howard is not an offensive powerhouse anyways. The 1992 team clearly has a size and strength advantage. I also doubt the 2012 team has a training advantage. This is the "Dream Team" not the bench players. They pushed themselves beyond what normal athletes do.

As for speed and athletiscism I can see a case being made there. I do not think it is nearly enough to compensate or the dominatingly, overwhelming advatage the 1992 team has at the 4 and 5. Love and Griffin on Malone and Barkley? Better get two ambulances ready. We already know Griffins and Loves medical info so maybe send that over as well.

What about the Magic advantage? Before there was LeBron, there was Magic, who could play every postion except center...although he did once in a playoff game, IINM. Magic was the most versatile player in the NBA. I hate the Lakers, hated Magic (and still do). But Magic >>> LeBoob.

Funny. 3 of the 5 2012 starters aren't even playing. Rose? Did he really recover from a torn ACL in one month? Wow! Griffin? Guess that torn Meniscus thing was a joke? Dwight? Is his back 100 percent better now?

The real 2012 squad would lose by 50.

The 92 team would park in a zone and watch Wade and co shoot bricks. If they ever got into a half court game, the 92 squad could either create with Magic, Stockton, or Jordan, shoot with Bird and Mullin, or post up with some of the best post players the game has ever seen.

The squad with those injured players actually playing healthy would lose by at least 30, but it would seem worse cuz Malone and co would knock Griffin and Dwight's candyasses into the cheap seats.

When you look at it, only 1 player from 2012 could start for that 92 team. That's Lebron. While the bench 92 players (lik Stockton) could start for the 2012 team.

92 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2012
92's bench >>> 2012

92 is the best basketball team ever put together... And it isn't even close.
 
I cant believe ESPN made this a serious poll. Worse still is that 20% of people are either too young or stupid and voted for 2012 team.
 
I like what Larry Bird had to say about it: "They probably could. I haven't played in 20 years and we're all old now."

Funny dude.

Dream Team wins via landslide.. would maybe be close, but I doubt it.
 
I think the Dream Team wins 8 out of 10 without a doubt.

The 2 wins they picked up were because LeBron, Kobe, or Durant went into God mode when no one on Earth has a chance to guard them.

The real problem with this years team, and MBA basketball in general right now is a lack of quality bigs. But stronger and faster? I don't believe that one bit. Athletes are still advancing incredibly fast, even over the last 10 years let alone the last 20. You have to remember how incredibly bad the level of competition was that they were playing also, worldwide basketball wasnt even close to the level it is right now. So ya they best everyone by 50 but who did they beat that was even a functional team?

Everyone remembers the amazing things that happened 20 years ago, they forget the games where Jordan went 4-18, or Bird couldn't hit a three, or that Barkley was really 6'4", we only remember the great things that happened. Pippen never had to guard anyone like Lebron, nobody was even close then, and don't say Magic because he wasn't near the physical specimen lebron is. Who is guarding Durrant? You don't think d will is going to physically punish John ?

If 2012 could field a healthy team I think it's a toss up, but with the team right now I guess I would give an edge to. 92, but not by a lot. I could be way off base but I think it's a lot closer than everyone is saying.
