Who would win between 2012 USA Men's Basketball & the original Dream Team 1992

Who would win in a battle of the Dream Teams?

I think 1992 would win just because of the big men. I think you could argue that the 2012 roster has an advantage in wing players because Johnson and Bird were at the end of their careers, but the overwhelming advantage 92' has on the inside would be too much for them to handle.

Could you imagine Kevin Love trying to guard Malone or Barkley?

92 by a landslide. Stoked and Torbin nailed it. The 92 squad would MURDER the 2012 team inside. Malone, Barkley, and Robinson were still in devestating form at the time. Also, Magic, Bird, Stockton, Mullin, and Drexler had higher basketball IQ's then the entire 2012 team combined.

Chuck Daly met his goal of never calling a time out during the 1992 Olympics. I doubt that happens in 2012. Sure, the competition is better, but I would love to see Jordan and Pippen go against Kobe and Lebron.

I respect Kobe for believing he's going to win. It's really nothing new for him. Didn't he think he was going to come back after falling 0-3 to the Mavs a couple years ago?

However, the Dream Team could run the floor, pound it inside, and shoot the three at an ELITE level.

2012 team could run with 1992 team, however, they cannot shoot the three as well or go inside as well. 1992 team would decimate the 2012 win team.

Would they be playing with today's rules or the ones in 1992? I don't think most of the players from today would know how to play with Pippen all over them, and a Karl Malone knee to the face. Imagine how many points Jordan could get when nobody can touch him.

Rose vs Magic - Magic by a mile. Not even close. Magic would eat Rose for lunch.
Wade vs Jordan - Ummmm. Are we serious? Wade would get killed as well. Again, not even close.
James vs Mullen - Again, are we serious? James would destroy Mullen. Not even close.
Griffin vs Malone - LOL. Could you imagine Griffin trying one of his toss dunks, to have Malone body check him into the third row. Again, Malone is miles better.
Howard vs Robinson - I would say this is close, but Robinson is just a better basketball player. Smarter. Again Advantage 1992.

Paul, DWill, Westbrook would get picked apart by Stockton.
Bryant and Drexler (this is wrong, Kobe should be the starter, but I'll go with what you have) Kobe is better.
Durant, Anthony vs Pippen/Bird - I could see an argument for Durant, but collectively this group is much better. I would LOVE to see Pippen guard Durant.
Love/Chandler vs Barkley/Ewing. The 92 team would destroy those two. Not even close.

So, the new team has an advantage of Kobe on the bench, LeBron over Mullen and that's it. Now, we throw in the fact that 10, let me repeat, TEN of the dream team players led their teams to the NBA finals. Then we throw in the fact that SIX of the 92 players made all NBA ALL DEFENSIVE teams. Finally, do you honestly think that Magic, Jordan, Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Ewing, Robinson would allow any of the crap that goes on today that makes a lot of today's player great? Wade wouldn't last two quarters in that game with how bad he flops around. Could imagine LeBron fake flopping on Malone, only the next time down the court catching an elbow to the chin?

It's cute that Kobe thinks they have a chance. Real cute. That 1992 is by far the greatest team ever, EVER assembled. That is all.

I disagree. You idiot.
Mullins is a much better shooter than James.
James would get eatin up driving against the 92 defense.
Advantage 92 at every position. Win by 50.

PS I am joking sort of, but really I am not. You never know how the players would have matched up until you see them play,
and I do not think it is clear that James would dominate his matchup, whoever they put against him.
, which might not have been Mullin anyway.

Pippin is the guy who would be put on LeBron if LeBron was scoring.

See there I think the 2012 might have the advantage, on the wings.

LeBron, Anthony, Durant > Mullin, Bird (he was old by then), Pippen

I guess you could lump Jordan in there but then the 2012 team could answer with Kobe.

Robinson, Ewing, Malone & Barkley > Howard, Griffin, Love & Chandler by a whole lot though.

Larry bird chimes in with a tweet...

Larry Bird on whether current Olympic team could beat Dream Team: "They probably could. I haven't played in 20 years and we're all old now." Twitter

lol... I miss that guy.

29 year old Jordan >>>>>>>>> 33 year old Kobe with German engineered knees.

Since they would be playing by international rules instead of NBA this point is moot.
