Whos trending upwards and whos trending downwards in the rotation

I just want to point out that the ONLY thing that matters this season is how well Exum plays. Everyone else's improvement or deterioration is negligible.

If Exum breaks out we have a contender. If Exum doesn't show progress, we are at best a playoff team.

So you are saying our absolute floor is playoffs regardless of what everyone does, but if Exum has a good season that jumps into championship contention?

I honestly don't know who is trending up or down but it was great to see Gobert making those free throws. Last year had sooo many instances of Gobert taking a dump at the free throw line at the most inopportune moments. Here's to it being a continuing trend.

To be fair, the whole team had a tendency to forget how to shoot free throws when it really mattered.

Floor= worst case. So no, our floor would be missing the playoffs. Our CEILING if Exum doesn't play well is being a playoff team.

My post was taking a longer term view on things. We drafted Exum in hopes of him becoming a star. And I think if Exum doesn't have a good season this year, then we won't be a contender for the foreseeable future.

So what you're saying is that if he doesn't become a star this year he never will? Why does it have to be this year or nothing. Guys grow at different rates.

From what I've seen so far, it doesn't look like Diaw will play a lot of minutes at the PF spot. He doesn't seem to be the same offensive threat that Favors or Lyles is, and he's not a great defender or rebounder. It seems more likely that his minutes will come at the 5 early on.

I'm interested to see if Hayward/Johnson become a forward combo, but I don't think I've seen that in pre-season yet.

I get the feeling that Hayward is trending down, atleast in the short run, Joe & Joe are trending up. I predict this will change by Christmas.

Hayward is trending sharply downward.

Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors are definitely trending upwards, they have played with a high level of confidence

Rudy Gobert is trending upwards ,what a FT shooting display he put on tonight

Dante Exum and Trey Lyles are going to be hard to keep off the court,Exums speed and length are special.Lyles is going to join Gobert and Favors as a big 3 in the front court. Trending upwards.

I don't think we can say that George Hill has trended upwards at this point ,he's playing passable. But handed the PG job he hasn't shown yet he can be more of a factor than Exum.

Rodney Hood is neutral so far ,we wait to see what he's bringing in the next game.

Joe Johnson,on a team with great young talent,he's starting out slow ,really slow...trending down

Joe Ingles ,believe it or not is trending up,he's definitely playing his way into the top 10 players on Jazz roster

Shelvin Mack has trended up slightly ,he's going to get minutes on some team

Alec Burks ,Incomplete, needs to get on the court though

Boris Diaw ,you can see he can be a help to the Jazz but you can't say he has trended up yet

trending down ,Raul Neto ,Chris Johnson ...are they going to be around by the end of pre season

who the hell knows? With all due respect, the season hasn't started yet, and I don't think that its fair to say until we get about 6 weeks under their belts.

We do ,those that have watched the Jazz.We can see the change in their physicality and their physical changes from summer workouts ...Cant you?

Sure, but if a player new to the team has one lackluster preseason game, it doesn't mean he's suddenly sliding down the rotation like you're suggesting. Frankly, it's incredibly stupid to believe so.
