Whose Minutes Will Burks Get?

I like Alec, but he is a below avg passer for a 2. Makes the obvious passes, but has little creativity. Far below Boris, Jingles, Hayward.

No he's not.... People here just cast aspersions with VERY little perspective involved.. Wicked case of revisionist history here when It comes to Alec.

When it comes to AB -- I'd say more than 50% of this forum is SPOILED ROTTEN.

There's a ****ing BRIGADE of "Burks is expendable" folks around here.... Who have no idea what they're talking about. They refuse to even acknowledge what a remarkable value his contract is..

Exum should go get some burn in the D-League after the knee is cleared.
I agree with this. Both him and Bolomboy together. Let them work to develop chemistry and confidence. I think Joel would help Dante tremendously in that scenario.

His passing is being overstated by his biggest homers. He has a lot of improvement he can do coming off the pick-and-roll and reading the help defenders. Most of his career has been taking one of just two options: trying to beat the man in front of him for a layup, or making an obvious dump-off pass. "Good passers" can do much more than this. "Serviceable" is probably a better description.

This is pretty accurate I think. He's pretty serviceable for a guard/wing. Another area I'm anxious to see improvement in is making a correct, quick decision when the ball is swung to him or kicked out to him. A lot of times it's either shoot or drive for a layup or obvious dump off pass like in his PNR situations. Maybe there could be an additional quick pass that could be made that puts the Jazz in an even better situation. Or, God forbid that he holds the ball in this situation. This is the biggest difference between Burks and Hayward/Hill (and Ingles too is pretty good at this) cuz the latter two really thrive in such situations and are excellent making quick, smart decisions when the ball is passed to them within the flow of the offense.

Yes, everyone, I hate Burks and please dislike my post.

No, you're just overreacting and seem kinda biased.

I hope one of Alec's New Years resolutions is to stay off the ground more.

Burks will be a very good asset to have through the end of his contract. His 3pt shooting was much improved until his latest injury. He and Hood would form a pretty good duo at the 2. Hood is generally a better 3pt shooter and Burks is better getting to the rim. The reason I've said Burks is "expendable" is I know Utah can't afford him - unless Hayward bolts. Simply not enough money after paying the 5 starters to keep players like Alec. Jazz may even be forced to choose between Favs and Lyles and could cut ties with Exum if he hasn't progressed much by the end of his rookie deal. Hard decisions ahead to keep Utah from paying the luxury tax.

Good position to be in though. I'd much rather have to deal with too many people to pay than too few. . .

Im just bracing myself for the first open 3 he passes up for a contested 22' pull-up jumper with a hand in his face.

Just thinking, how long will it take for Alec to hit the ground after a drive? Will he make it through this game? I seriously think this is one of the keys to Alec having a decent, or at least decently long career. He needs to modify his game.

No, he's not. He was pretty good last year before he went down. I remember some pretty clutch passes in some 4th quarters in close games last year.

Can we just transplant Mack's floater into Burks? That would help.

He's our Russell Westbrook.

Yeah, Alec is pretty much a badass. He's fearless out there and so aggressive. God I love his game when he's on. Is there anyone that loves basketball more than Alec?

I'm actually a big Dante Exum fan, but I realize that his development is going to be a long-term process. If he wants minutes, he needs to take them and play well in his opportunities. Assertiveness is a skill that can be developed. He's shown more of that over the past two seasons. . . I'd like to see more. This team has possibly the deepest roster in the league and is built to win now. I'm perfectly fine with him having to earn his playing time, and think he'll be better in the long run for it. Plus, I'm still convinced that the Jazz have the best developmental coaching staff in the league. He's shown improvement and will continue to do so. Not giving up on him yet, but I'm glad the Jazz don't have to rely on him at the moment.

With everyone healthy, I think he needs to spend some time in the D-league. I just don't see anything but a few garbage minutes otherwise. Quin is going to have a hard time finding minutes for everyone.

I'm so happy... Please dear god let Alec look healthy out there.

I agree here... Dante to the D League... I hope he wrecks it down there and gets some confidence.
