That's just not true.
12 oz good beer = 150 calories
12 oz lite beer = 110 calories
5 oz wine = 90 calories
1 1/2 oz liquor = 90 calories
Really? Did a quick google and found this info - what do you think?
But what do you say about the above stats??????drinking beer won't give you beer belly. Things that you eat with beer give you beer belly (ex. wings, nachos, etc). so, if you just drink beer without anything, you should be fine.
Not true in my case, it would be great if I can drink alcohol and not get drunk. I truly just enjoy the 'flavour'. You can't compare the flavour of alcohol to an orange juice I don't think because alcohol has more than just the 'taste', it has the 'aroma' as well incorporated into the flavour which brings your nose into it as well as your tongue.
As an example, try steaming mussels in pot without adding white wine, it just doesn't taste the same.

When I do drink (about 3-4 times/year), I do so to enjoy the feeling or relaxation (I'm not sure if that is option 1 or option 4); mostly I don't drink and never really saw the point in getting anything more than slightly buzzed.
One of the great benefits of getting your alcohol from beer is its relatively low alcohol content. A 6%abv beer is 94% water. Alcohol is a diuretic and hangovers are largely caused by dehydration. Drinking potent mixed drinks and even wine gives you a lot less water per quantity of ethanol. It is also easy to continue drinking beer for an extended period without going overboard. I think that's one of the reasons beer is such a popular beverage.
I always found vodka to be the least likely to give me a hangover and beer one of the most. Part of it probably is that when you drink liquor you usually have a chaser. When you drink beer you just drink beer.

Rum gives me a headache.

My body responds very differently depending on if it's one of the clear rums or if it's one of the darker more molassesy ones. Also aged versus not-aged makes a difference. For me, I can basically sip the dark, aged rums all day without any problem.
