Why does Enes not recieve contract?

I think every player should get the max because Hayward Precedent that's all that matters and the players and agents and management knows it omg it's inevitable why don't we sign everyone to max right now to avoid next year's higher max contract and save money that isn't ours omg lol haha.

But why would that not be the case? I don't think most people behave with much more loyalty to their companies, or maybe I'm just jaded. I guess this isn't about loyalty, it's just reality. I think so, anyway.

But I get that conjecture is ****.

The point I was making with my mockery is that the people involved aren't bat **** crazy like the trollsters here make them out to be. Suggesting Burks anywhere near the max outside of the very small Jazz blogosphere would get you laughed off stage. Even a $12mm contract would bring a collective WTF (to those who price in future salary cap ramifications).

Also, Burks' style of play is prone to blowing out two knees, and banking $40 million guaranteed is no chump change. Steph Curry did it; best contract in the league by far. Burks should salivate over a deal like $10mm per. If nothing else, it would allow him to splurge that squirreled away rookie minimum on a Bentley and some Southern Exposure sluts.

Enes is not a known quantity (or if he is, his worth is hard to commit a lot of money to, especially if he doesn't pull his head out of his ***). Also, Alec will simply be holding out for the max because why wouldn't he after Hayward got his deal.

Agree.
I think there is virtually no chance Kanter and Burks re-sign before the season.

1. Kanter's value is extremely low. He's viewed as a poor defending sub. And he is coming off an injury. What do you offer him if you're Dennis Lindsey? A contract equal to Booker? And if you're Kanter or his agent do you accept? Does Dennis go up to $8M, $10M, a contract equal to Favors? Certainly IF Kanter breaks out as a starter, then 4/$48M would be a bargain. But what if he has a repeat of last year? Then the Jazz are stuck with an overpaid sub. Better to let him play his way into a contract.

2. Burks likely wants Hayward-type money. Second leading scorer, playing 8 fewer minutes. And his percentages were >>> Hayward. Additionally, he's likely going to want to be a starter and get paid like one. He'll test the market; he would be an idiot not to.

Kanter is a talented player
but he has one lousy agent in Max Ergul.
Max, if u are reading this, quit screwing this boy's career.
u have inflicted enough damage already!

Your posts are usually solid but this one has me puzzled. Do you really think the Hayward contract is the only relevant information? Context, available dollars, other party's needs, incremental dollars on the line.... many factors.

It is a pretty freakin complicated calculus and high stakes poker. If Burks has the chance to sign for 5 years and $35MM bird in hand versus the possibility of a 3 year $63MM, are you willing to gamble for the incremental $28MM, when the risk is you may have no choice but to (a) take the qualifying offer; or (b) negotiate with the Jazz with less leverage after the market dries up and sign for less.
