Why I think Hayward stays

Imo salary cap rising doesn't mean you should automatically max guys who didn't play like max players.

Why should it? Just because of the connotation of the word?

Hayward signed a max deal, but his deal was not going to count as a max deal because the cap was rising. Everybody knew that. It's why teams were lining up to give him max contracts after an unspectacular season.

Besides, he wasn't asking for a max contract for his extension. They should have gotten it done before the season for four years and no options. It was poor foresight by the FO. Anyone who paid attention to what was happening with the new TV deal should have given Hayward whatever he wanted for four years.

Only thing I can think of with Hayward his if he wants more brand recognition and star type treatment that a big market team could bring him. Dude deserves it and I wouldn't blame him, most people still don't know who he is.

Gobert is definitely the X-factor in all this. If Hayward is serious about winning it would be tough to walk away from a guy like Rudy.

I wonder if Gordon tries to leave the room before signing if Gobert will block him.
