Why trading up for Russell should be the priority

Yeah, that's what I meant.

I wonder if Alec or Rodney can become that. Alec right now seems more like a scorer than shooter, but was showing some nice shooting potential before he got injured(shot 38% for the season and 43% on catch and shoot 3s - that's really exciting to see). The thing is to what extent he'd be willing to change his game and just shoot the 3s on the catch when he's open instead of looking to put the ball on the floor. I think the more of a threat he is from 3 the more he will be able to attack closeouts too. He also shared on the last day interview that he's been working on fixing his form and reducing his leg kick... will be interesting to see how that will affect him.

Rodney's shooting has been up and down all season, but was actually pretty good post all-star game. He finished the season at .365 from 3 on 3.4 attempts in 21mpg for the season, which translates to 5.8 3s per 36. The numbers post all-star are 42% from 3 on 5.7 attempts per 36. Right now he seems like the best bet we have for a shooter on the wing. The fact that he's showing playmaking to go along with his shooting is really encouraging.

I've decided that trading up for a top-3 pick is nearly impossible these days and in all likelihood not a smart decision. As draft day approaches, teams seem to really overvalue top 5 draft picks. I don't think anyone on the board would be happy with what we'd have to give up to get into the top 5 where Russell will almost surely go.

I'm also less inclined to do so because I think I'm higher on Exum than most. I think the kid will be, at worst, one of the better starting PG's in the league by 2016-2017. With Hood, Burks, and Hayward in the fold I think our backcourt will be just fine.

The plan is in place, Jazz Fanz, just ride the wave.

I have no idea who this thread is about. I don't think any of you are talking about Westbrook are you?

Yes! This post implies that there is someone about on my level of ignorance regarding draft prospects! Anyway, the thread is about D'Angelo Russell.

I am utterly ignorant to the college world and what prospects are out there...

We are talking about the D'Angelo Russell, a.k.a Black Messiah, a.k.a. baby Curry, a.k.a. Harden Jr...

What do you think the odds are that Ingles becomes that additional 3 point shooter we need? Say 5 a game at around 38-39%?

Hayward, Hood, Burks and Ingles?

I wrote in another thread about it. Right now Hood is the closest to becoming our high volume 3p shooter. He's been shooting 5.8 3 pointers per 36 minutes, and hit them at 37% for the season that includes a horrible start laden with injuries(he finished the season at 42% post all star break on about the same rate(5.7 per 36)). And to add to it, he seems to have the additional game to justify him being out there for that much of playing time.

Alec Burks shot really well on catch and shoot 3s too(43%) but shoot very few of them(2.7 per 36) and I am not sure his tendencies can be changed so he'd just shoot the open 3 rather than put the ball on the floor.

You have the right idea but the wrong Russell. If we are going to sell the farm, Westbrook is the Russell to go after.
