Will Kanter be back next season?

If the Jazz allow Kanter to walk via free agency without getting an asset in return, than it would be one of the biggest go for nothings the Jazz have ever had. We have invested in him for a few years now, and he is a good player with potential, why would you let him walk without anything in return?? At worst case he is worth a role player + draft pick. You don't let valuable players walk to take their salary space in return. That's bad for business.

Kanter does not sign an extension for 8 million a year - period. He makes just about the same amount with his QO and will be an unrestriced free agent at a time when the CAP is rumoured to increase more than it has ever done before. To sign a long term extension for 8 million now would be insanely stupid and his agent would be the laughing stock of the leagye.

8 million sounds harmless but it's not. The Jazz will be at 54 million with Kanter off the books, and obviously 62 with him. With the cap only projected to be at 66.5 next year, they would be running with the same exact team.
While 12 million is enough play money to get you someone like Luol Deng, Gerald Green, Wesley Matthews, Danny Green, Reggie Jackson, maybe Draymond Green (but I'm leery of him).

This is not correct. There is no way we stay at 54 million next summer unless we do a clean out of the roster. If we renounce Kanter on July 1st - which we will not do - we still have cap holds for Evans, Ingles and Clark. If we renounce all three, we still will be on the books with our own lottery pick (2,7 million for #6) + 3 minimum cap holds to meet the minimum squad size of 13.

We won`t have any cap space to speak of this summer. If we`re not skipping steps, as Locke quotes DL on saying that we`re not, we`re going to go into next season with the same roster + draft picks and see what we can get in the summer of 2016, when the cap is about to explode.

Signing Kanter for something like 4 years 40 million would actually be a really good deal with the cap increasing a lot. Halfway through his contract, his salary would amount to 6-7 million under the current CBA and it wouldn`t be hard to get rid of him if we wanted to.

I disagree.
I think with Burks back, hopefully hood healthy, a couple of new draft picks, a 2nd year exum, a starting gobert and bench kanter, and a true veteran Hayward and favors...... this team would look alot different even with some similar pieces

Please post more often.

Kanter sucks though.

I'm shocked 59% of the voters want this clown back next season. He doesn't play defense. He doesn't pass. He doesn't rebound particularly great anymore. He's not athletic. He's not long. He doesn't bring leadership. So someone please explain to me why we want him back? Because he can score buckets. Awesome. Let's just ignore all the other points, the eyeball test and what all the data tells us.

Just so you know..... The poll does not ask who WANTS kanter back...... it asks who thinks the jazz will bring him back, whether we agree with the jazz decision or not

What`s the rush? We`re not gonna be competing for anything for a while and letting Kanter have another season to see if Quin can coach some sense into him is imo a pretty good idea. What`s the worst that could happen? That we lose a game or two extra?
