I not afraid to admit that's why I've flip flopped. Kanter was needed before Rudy, now he's expendable, and arguably should be traded because of the emergence of Rudy.

If Kanter keeps playing like this he will be a real bargain to resign.... Rudy and Favors are our future big men, no doubt about it. I think think we need to use our cap space on another good guard, and not Kanter.

How good is the cavs cap situation? Agent might think they have the cavs by the balls if they don't have assets/cap to get another athletic big. TT is their only big with anything resembling quickness and athleticism on that team, and might not be able to get any sort of replacement, so they 'have' to keep him, even if over market value.

Tristan shares the same agent as LeBron... hmmmm.... I wonder if there is any side deal going on here. When Thompson gets a max deal don't be surprised... LeBron's runnin that ish.

Can't see a team out there that would offer Kanter more than $8 M per year the way he is playing right now. We need to bring him off the bench to see if he's useful in that role... that will be his role for us if he sticks around. If he gets offered anywhere near $13 M per, we need to walk away from the table or work a sign and trade and at least get a trade exception.

It's fair for the agents to project their players improve a little though, upping their value. Both Kanter and TT have regressed more than improved, they can't really blame their agents when they get 8 million a year offers next year.

If Kanter gets offered $8 million per year, the Jazz should match. From now until the trade deadline, the Utah Jazz should start Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Exum and Burke. They should then bring Kanter in off the bench and have him play most of his minutes with Gobert. They should really try to see how Kanter functions as the 3rd big off the bench, and if by playing him with a strong defensive lineup helps him look better. He's currently averaging 14 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. Get those numbers to tick upward and his trade value will increase as well. Nobody can say that the Jazz are just benching him when Gobert and Favors are both playing like they have been. If they decide to keep him long-term, that's what his role is going to be and it's a good idea to see how well it works starting now.

8 million sounds harmless but it's not. The Jazz will be at 54 million with Kanter off the books, and obviously 62 with him. With the cap only projected to be at 66.5 next year, they would be running with the same exact team.
While 12 million is enough play money to get you someone like Luol Deng, Gerald Green, Wesley Matthews, Danny Green, Reggie Jackson, maybe Draymond Green (but I'm leery of him).

But, any improvement from Kanter makes $8 million per a very tradeable contract, and I see him as a player that will continue to improve and develop. In fact, I could see him break out under Snyder, which would make that contract golden as a trade chip. I still think that Utah is planning a big move either at the 2015 trade deadline, or in the 2016 offseason.
