What's new

Willie Reed

I’m simply a messenger here to deliver the company line.
Honestly if we were a team trying to get the 8 seed Bradley would be fine as a backup for now. I would rather invest time in something more interesting. He does a couple things that are slightly valuable but teams go at him when he is in the game. Occasionally he is okay at defending the rim... sometimes he fouls the whole time but he does some okay things.

The deeper you go in the playoffs the more a guy like him can't play. I'm worried we don't find a good value at center and talk ourselves back into TB during the season... and by ourselves I mean Jazz management. We then go into the playoffs with a center who won't anchor a good enough defense and can't shoot so doesn't provide anything to add to the flexibility of how we play... will give us either an empty 8 minutes or bad 8 minutes.

But per36M he will average 15/15 so ya gotta invest in a young guy like that.

How do we know? We haven't gone deep. Seems a little foolish to give up our three years of development based on him not being able to play deep in the playoffs, when we have yet to see him play deep into the playoffs. What if he blows up in the playoffs and that's where he really excels, and we want to toss that aside because we're not willing to wait.

Willie was pro exposure's player of the day yesterday. In an Euroleague game he had 22 points 8 boards in 27 minutes in a six point win.

He LOOKS good. I know highlight reels can be super misleading that being said, watching this one - I see a lot of stuff going on that I'm not sure Tony Bradley will ever be able to do physically. Also mentally (just based off this clip) he seems like more of a GET AFTER it and insert your will kind of player. I would love having him as a 3rd center, but I'd really like Gobert's backup to be someone who could throw a different look at opposing defenses - someone who can hit the 3, knock down their FTs and still set hard screens. Aron Baynes is at the top of my wishlist.

I noticed our old pal Ante Tomic was Pro Exposure's player of the day yesterday for getting 22 points 8 boards in a game. Former Jazzman Erick Green had 14 points for the other team. The article said Tomic is 33 years old.

Our old buddy Eric Griffin had 20 points 10 boards in an Israeli pro league game yesterday. 3-5 from 3 and 5-6 from the foul line.

For all you Spencer Butterfield fans, he signed with a team in Spain yesterday.

For all you Jimmer fans, he got bested by fellow 2011 first round draft pick Marshon Brooks in China 37 points to 22. Brooks' team also won the game. So if our new owner has some Jimmer love, bring over Brooks first.

In the battle of Jazz alums Jonas Jerebeko's team beat Bolomboy's team with Jonas having the better stats. Greg Monroe was the star of the game. Can you imagine having Jonas, Joel and Greg on our bench instead of the ragga muffins we had this past season?
