With the 23rd Pick... Rodney Hood

not much of a rebounder though!
He has to improve in that department if he is an SF.
I am delighted that he was drafted there.

Because he as coming from a legit programme with good numbers.
I really don't get the Euro fetish. If a player is good enough to average 17 points and/or 10 rebounds in a major NCAA league, you draft him, at least in the second round.
Run the dice with/for him.
Dukies usually perform badly in the NBA but still ...
 
I find him similar to a young Travis Outlaw in his short prime with Portland. Tall and athletic slashing SF with a very high shot release, not a great rebounder but a decent defender.
 
I was shocked because of the players available at 23.

Glad hood was one of them. Otherwise I heard the jazz were trading out, despite the others still available.

Has anyone heard why Hood fell on draft night?

Elton Brand too. He was one of the best PFs in the league for a good... 8-10 years before that nasty injury.
 
Hood should have been picked around #10... Well, I am still shocked he was available for the Jazz. I and some other posters here were begging to move up with 23 + 35 to get 17 or whatever to pick Hood. Then it's 22, MEM picks Jordan Adams, a solid SG but I am not sure he can compete at the NBA level. See this too, 17th pick James Young:

Then it's 23, I am 100% sure DL will pick Hood at that point, because unlike many other athlete-turned-clueless-GMs out there, he knows the game of basketball.

Hood can score in a variety of ways and is NBA ready. Start him at SF. He can give you what you'd get from Hayward.. Only at 1/10 price!

I would Marvin is more athletic because he has strength and athletic ability.

Hood and Marvin are both players who appear less athletic in game than they actually are.
 
I gotta be honest, I'm not a fan. He's soft, weak, doesn't play defense, and has short arms. Maybe he tumbled 10-ish spots for a reason.

I would rather have had P.J. Hairston.
 
If Hood isn't a flop, the Jazz now are abjectly without any toughness or D on the perimeter. I don't like that. I don't want a soft team.
