With the 35th Pick... Jarnell Stokes (traded)

Memphis could easily be worse than us 2 years from now doe.

Okay, let's say that they are one of the worst teams. That means they will need to be in the bottom five in the league and select somewhere between #31 and #35 to come out even.

Maybe the Jazz are simply looking at the roster knowing Neto and Tomic are coming over and roster spots just won't be there. I get that, but it still seems that Memphis should be paying us more.

2nd round pick does not tie up a roster spot.

You don't have to sign the player if he sucks. Just basically throwing the pick away is dumb. They could have taken Traveras and kept him over in Europe for 3 years. What are they going to do next year just give their picks away because they have two many young guys. Memphis's pick next year will be below 40. They could have taken Clarkson and told him to play in Europe for a few years and then if Burke leaves or Neto doesn't pan out you bring him over in a few years.

I'm changing my mind. I don't like this trade and I agree w/most on his board. We shouldn't have traded it.

What do the stats say about 2nd round picks? Does a high 2nd round pick statistically make the league more often than a mid-2nd, or a late 2nd?

If there is no money involved, I think it's just a case of us not seeing any stashable player we loved and rolling the dice on a draft in 2016. Jazz had a good foreign scouting team, so maybe we forecast talent in Europe in 2016.

Theres a chance the 2016 draft is very deep. Especially if the rule changes happen and players from the following draft reclassify.
