With the 47th Pick, Kevin Murphy

I haven't seen much, but I don't like the lower-body mechanics on his shot. He looks a lot like CJ... off-balance.
He'll need to demonstrate abilities to catch-and-shoot if he wants any minutes, IMO

Sporting smooth shooting mechanics and a high release point, Murphy is a terrific catch-and-shoot threat who is just as good shooting the ball on the move from the mid-range as he is with his feet set from beyond the arc.

He has that down according to most draft sites.

Shooting the ball with range both off the catch and off the dribble, the Tennessee Tech product was consistently able to create separation with his dribble in one-on-one situations, knock down his spot-up jump shots, and utilize his smooth shooting mechanics to convert a number of contested shots in impressive fashion

The only question, as is with most scorers/shooters, is will his defense allow him to stay on the court long enough for his offense to flourish.

from what i've been able to see & read since last night, his ability to shoot off the catch is one indicator that he'll be at least moderatly successful as a bench contributor someday. and given our current situation on the wings, "someday" could be pretty soon.

at 47, i think this is ok.

We're about to have three guys WE picked at #47 on the same team.

I'd say this guy looks a lot like CJ miles. If he's CJ that isn't a moron, that could be a pretty good player.

Murphy is slick I was watching his Highlight videos and I think he can be real good He got midrange and just gets buckets I think it will turn Out to be a good pick I think.

CJ that works out would have been Harden more or less. IMO that dude had all the talent Harden has. Too bad, time to move on. Hope he put some of the Jazz's money into a good account.

And two #3 picks.
Both of which originally belonged to New Jersey and which they traded to us (along with several other assets, of course) for a guy that we originally drafted at #3. And we used to have a guy who wore the #47 who would have left it hanging in our rafters if he'd continued playing after getting his $47 million contract the way he played before he got it. And where is that same player expected to play next in the NBA? On top of everything else, click here to check this out. Take a look at the last paragraph. How long did Utah go scoreless against the Nets at the end of the first quarter? Coincidence? I think not.

(By the way, would anybody like to guess how old Karl Malone will turn on July 24 of this year? Why am I not surprised?)
