With the 47th Pick, Kevin Murphy

To me it makes perfect sense. If they want to resign Harden, which means Ibaka could be on his way out, and PJ3 can take over in a year or two.

I guess the question is can they afford to resign Harden if they let Ibaka walk

If PJ3 replaces Ibaka the Thunder lose a whole lot of defensive presence and only get marginally better on offense (maybe worse because there is only 1 basketball).

Loved this line.

I remember when Wes Mantooth's favorite player as the PF out of North Texas because he saw he shot 40% from deep on 1 attempt per game. He was right away assured he could be our SF of the future. There was also no game film of him anywhere besides a really poorly shot 30 second highlight reel.

Perhaps Alec Burks II with a better outside shot...

I don't see it,

Alec mainly drove for contact and finished near the rim, and had shown flashes of brilliant playmaking ability

From all the reports and scouting ive read on murphy,
he shoots over 70% of his shots as a midrange-or-farther jumpshot [almost 6 3's per game @ > 40% = :)], and is not an exceptional passer (more t/o's than assists)

We picked up a guy who can catch and shoot, and shoot off isolations.

I dont expect a burks clone (ie cutting, drawing contact, making plays) but a role player put in to keep the defense honest and capitalize when they aren't.

How does this compare to 'Sabonis' Jonas?

Murphy looks decent. Locke was saying Jazz drafted Murphy with the idea that he would make the team. If he can contribute even 10 mins a game of solid shooting and offense, then the pick is a success.

Yeah I like it too - it took me a while for it to sink in, but I do like him.
