Woj: Jazz agree to 3-team trade with Lakers and Timberwolves

Wow if this is true then DA got played. The last two DA trades have been bad in my opinion.
Yeah but I don't think the Lakers would tank the whole season and risk not getting the top 4 pick though, would they? I mean you've got to be at least top 3 bad to at least have a "chance".

I think it's more for if they didn't make the playoffs and get REALLY lucky.

My question is what we could have gotten had we moved Beverley, Bojan, and whatever else of these guys to the Lakers in the summer. Could we get the same deal without the protections on the pick? What gets conveyed if it’s 1-4? They can’t really give us any other firsts… it could be a great pick but there’s also possibility that this pick becomes nothing and becomes risky (and could be viewed more risky for anyone giving up talent to get it).

It’s 2027, so that’s good. It gives us some time to put it in another deal.

My biggest complaint is that just with all the concessions the Jazz made to get this deal done we couldnt dump Gay with it. I'm sorry, but a protected pick that doesnt roll back means you take Rudy Gay.

We may have to view this trade a little differently. The players going out and what came back is pretty rough but if it also means that our own pick goes from the 10-14 range to the 6-8 then that is worth a decent amount. To actually move up that much on draft night it will cost you at least one 1st rd pick.

I think this may make a lot more sense if the Jazz have their eye on a FA next year, I just for the life of me see who that might be.

I guarantee that before the year we would have had no problem trading Conley, Bojan and Beasley for the lakers 27 pick unprotected.
