Woj says the Jazz are listening to offers for Mitchell

In a vacuum Barrett... with Simmons you are likely getting extra stuff with the others you are giving extra stuff.

Simmons has the highest ceiling and we have seen him do it... he also might be broken mentally or physically. If we traded for him I'd want to move him the second he improved his value.

I'm really low on Barrett right now, I just think he gets too much credit for "looking the part" on both offense and defense. He appears to be athletic and explosive, but he still stinks at defense and is horrid at finishing his drives.. He just isn't functionally athletic and he has bad touch. The numbers hate him and I can see why.

But I do think Barrett could have the most trade value out of the 4. If I had to rank them in pure talent and their ability to be a star player I'd go:

1. Simmons
2. Ayton
3. Barrett
4. Herro

But I think the trade value is more like:

1. Barrett
2. Herro
3. Ayton
4. Simmons

Simmons also has the most risk associated with him, but if we get the most picks by taking on Simmons....I like it. The proposed Bobby Marks deal is way more preferable than the MIA deal IMO. You get more picks, a better "premium" asset IMO, and don't have to take back a bad contract. I would not mind if Ayton was sent here and Simmons to IND either. If I had to bet on who makes the most all star teams out of the 4, I'd pick Ayton even though Simmons has a higher ceiling.

If Simmons plays well, then you trade him a year later for 3 to 4 picks. But if he doesn't play well, then you got a good lottery pick. It's a win-win for a tank. I would do it.

Jeez I go do some actual work and this thing adds 7 pages. LOL

It would depend on what I could spin Herro for. Getting those Suns picks with CP and KD old and an owner that has struggled to have continued success would be much more preferable than the Heat picks.

Simmons is tough though. I think he could be good but also could really prevent a clean rebuild in a few different ways. I think it might be a year or two before teams see him as reliable again. I worry he is completely out mentally and never really loved basketball... but loves attention and money. I just don't know if he poisons the well.

Would you guys rather have Simmons or Ayton? I feel like either of these two are better bets than Barrett or Herro if I'm being honest.

I'd also love to get those juicy Lakers picks if Kyrie is dealt.
Simmons is a risk, but I prefer him over having a lot of money tied up in a fairly traditional center. If we couldn’t make it work with Rudy, who brings something exceptional to the table with his defense, why would it be any different with Ayton. Unless it’s Jokic or Embiid, centers seem an afterthought on successfull teams these days, so I also wouldn’t expect it to be easy to trade him at some point.
As mentioned above, Simmons might find he actually likes being out of the spotlights for a bit and when he feels the need to be a young socialite he can just head off to The Sundance festival for a day or two.
Also, Simmons is one of the players I hate most, so it’s almost inevitible he ends up here. When he does, I expect nothing less than a total redemption arch.

The more I think of it the more the human element just makes me feel like I'd pass. I just think we need a clean break and rebuild and having Simmons makes it hard. I'd almost rather have Randle than Simmons... I'd trust Danny to do the right thing.

Does Simmons even want to play basketball?
