What's new

Working life

Now other fields maybe you don't need it so much. I wouldn't know. I do know my wife only has her associates and does extremely well with her work. So in other fields it might not matter so much.

But in general I think the more education you get the better off you are going to be.

The difference between a Bachelor's and a Master's can, even in the same job, be $5000/year, and further there are some jobs you can't get with a Bachelor's. So, getting the Master's can be worthwhile financially.

What would be the difference in school tuition going from a BA to a Masters?

I'd make about $1,500 more per year at the most with my Master's. Awesome, that would pay huge dividends....25 years later...but hey, it's all for the kids. I should get that great education...at GCU!!! Because that's the pinnacle of education. I'm shocked it's even accredited.

Since you missed it Viny

Grand Canyon University. If I remember right it ran about 6-7G. Most of the teachers and admins I know that is the norm for price. I think Phoenix runs about 8G.

Surprisingly, the stuff from my Masters is some of the best educational info I've run into.

If a masters degree would only cost $8000 then even $1500/yr would provide a pretty damn good rate of return. Utah's school districts will give you a much better raise for earning a masters degree. Last I saw a few years back, Granite School District would raise you $1500/yr for every 20 credit hours. You didn't have to earn a masters before seeing a return. That's not a bad way to earn a raise during the summer off season.

I believe KEK is in NJ. Furthermore, isn't a masters offered by Phoenix kind of considered fake?

Yes and yes.

All the administrators I know automatically throw out resumes for candidates who've gotten their Masters from Phoenix or GCU or such. It's looked at as a sort of lazy shortcut to getting a bump in pay. But hey, what do I know? Conan's all about learning and the kids so he went out and got the best education possible at GCU. An utter joke.

My old man got his Masters at Phoenix at the age of 55 -- got him a huge bump in pay. On the flip side, my brother got it at the same time as my pop, and he's a stay at home dad. Dividends indeed.
