Worst rendition of the National Anthem ever?

Susan Boyle is considered a pro and screws lyrics all the time. List goes on. The Anthem is slaughtered so many times because of nerves, not the in competencies of the singers. (Most the time at least)

Are we really putting Susan Boyle and Christina Aguilera in the same category? One's a pro. The other's a talented singer thrust into the spotlight. That doesn't make her a pro.

I haven't been to a lot but the ones I've been to were without lyrical error. ACDC, Bruce twice, Journey...seriously dude, she needs to get lyrics right for all of a minute or two, with months to prepare, and she couldn't hack it. Lame.

She should, but it's not a shocker she didn't. I would think she screwed up because of nerves and not the lack of practice or having the song memorized. At least I would hope.

I can show you plenty of other singers videos on youtube where they forget the lyrics of their own songs. Poor example on my part, but she came to mind because she screwed up a few months ago on the Today Show.

And I'm sure that happened within the context of an entire concert or something of that nature. Not when the artists had months to prepare to sing one song.

Maybe she would have done better to just sing the freaking song rather than playing it up. The song is perfect as written without singers of her ilk trying to hit notes they can't hit and jockeying to be the one to scream out "land of the FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE" louder than anyone else. It does not require anyone to make it their own. The best rendition I ever heard I believe was at a Jazz game. The girl was maybe 15 and her voice was clear, each note was perfect, she never wavered up and down half an octave on single words ("FFrreeEEEeeEEee..yeah!!!") with emphasis on the right words at the right times. And it was beautiful. She sang with power and confidence and it was wonderful. Everyone was so taken by it that virtually no one cheered crazy at the last note, but afterward it was the loudest cheer I have heard following an anthem. Emotionally moving as it should be, not bowel moving like Aguilera's was today.
