What's new

Would anyone be upset if the Jazz selected...

I know people are down on Allen but I’m liking him more every day. IMO he does more for his team then Dante does.

Just watched Allen in a loss against Virginia. Looks like one of his worst games of the year (and so it could be throwing me way off), but if what we'd get is anything like I saw, I'd have a hard time getting behind the pick. Aside from the poor shooting, he simply looked like a competent, intelligent ACC player -- but that's about it. And at 23 years old, I'd better be getting more than that. Saw a couple good defensive sequences, he ran the team adequately. His athleticism was fine, but certainly didn't jump off the screen. Basically nothing that made me think he's going to be much of a positive unless his shot is falling (and I think other draftees had their shots fall more often this year).

But I'm glad the Jazz see much more of him than I do. The matchup with Thomas yesterday was hopefully ideal to help see if there's really something there that will translate.

Those DD highlights in the 5 on 5 are impressive. The hustle reminds me of Spida a little. He seems like our type of guy, mindset wise.

I do love though that’s Okogie quote about motor.

DD just looks like a natural basketball player too. His shot. His handle. Most guys seem like they aren’t natural at those things. He does. For shooting, I think that’s huge.

That's really what stands out to me and why I really like him.

The player that I just don't get it on all the excitement is Troy Brown. I just don't see any explosion and any athleticism. I would take Frazier over Brown any day. Troy Brown's combine numbers were near the bottom in all agility measurables. 33 inch max vertical etc.

Is there any reason DD can’t be a better version of Redick?
Uhh, Redick is a generational type talent as a shooter. He probably cant be a better version. He is going to be have to be a different type of player.

DD is a career 70% ft shooter. Redick has never shot under 86% for a full season (besides his 2nd but he only played 30 games that year due to injury).

FT% is what gives me pause on a guy like Huerter too. He is talked about in terms of Korver and Thompson, but he doesnt have the FT% numbers those guys had. FT% being high for their entire careers, starting in college, is a pretty common denominator among the best ever in terms of shooting.
