What's new

Would u stay as jazz players if you were Kanter or Favors?

Nobody's saying do something dumb to make him happy. Everyone's saying stop doing dumb things to make veterans happy (see Bell, Howard, Foye, Jefferson and Millsap).

But with favors and Kanter we're not talking about clearly inferior players getting time in front of them, we're talking about Al and Millsap, who are "good" players who have demonstrated an ability to play against other starters and put points on the board. We've seen several times this year that Favors and Kanter sometimes struggle to score. That's not just a small issue. They need to prove their ability to score before we could even begin to consider playing them over Millsap or Al.

So that's what I'm talking about. Right now it doesn't make sense to not play Jefferson does it? Do you really feel like you could justify playing Jefferson 10-15min/game, especially if the Jazz aren't scoring in his absence and are losing games?

I could justify it. I could if I truly thought this was as good as we'll ever be staying the status quo .. And if there could be a chance that the younger guys can take us farther than this, in the future.

I could justify losing games to be better in the future, rather than win a few more now at the expense of a more later .. Thus perpetuating the mind-numbing mediocrity.

Yeah solid post. Just simply look at Pacers game. Al came up big in the dying min. of reg and OT. He won us that game.

I could see that as a justification to trade Al (or Millsap, or both) and then use the extra time for our young guys, but I can't see not playing a guy who can score as much as Big Al can.

Just to be clear, I hate what the Jazz are right now and I think Al bears the majority of the blame. I just don't think a professional basketball organization sits Al under our current circumstances and I also don't think playing Al makes Favors hate Utah, or at least it shouldn't if Favors is a grown up.

I think it's hard to justify benching Al and Millsap in favor of Kanter and Favors. More than that, I think it's easy to justify trading yourself out of the problem, and the candidates are ****ing obvious. Or candidate.

I also think it's easy to justify playing the youth when they're playing more effective basketball than the starters (on a situation to situation basis).
