Just saying it's remarkable how much opportunity we have in the '17 draft.
I know people get tired of hearing it, but DL has been masterful at stockpiling picks in the best draft in ages.

To put it in perspective, Thon Maker is mocked at #24 and the Jazz have two firsts and four seconds in '17.
 
Nope, If it was like the NFL where draft seedings are determined strictly by record it'd be different. Then I'd be all for the Jazz taking the 8th seed.

If the east continues to have 10 teams playing over .500 ball and the Jazz just miss the playoffs, they could have the 12th pick (less than %1 chance at getting the #1) or better.

PHX and the Mavs are the biggest competition for those 7th and 8th spots IMO. So there's a bunch of moving parts.


Not saying I want to see them tank. As long as they play games like last night, i'll be thoroughly entertained. The playoffs will be good with or without the Jazz tbh - It would be interesting to see them in a series as the dog, and steal one of the initial road games though..



My expectations for the playoffs were stymied during the summer's FA period. Where the Jazz made the powermoves of signing Neto and Pleiss, re-signing Ingles

LOL at 23 teams passing on Thon Maker, that's not going to happen.. I know he has his ups and downs, there's just no way I;m ever going to believe that an old player like Kaminsky can go top-10, and a young prospect like Thon could go 24th - NO WAY!

I agree. I think the mocks are having a knee-jerk reaction to cbb cooling on him. The problem is it has almost nothing to do with talent. It's handler baggage and eligibility concerns.

7 teams that made the playoffs won't be passing on Thon Maker.. It's totally absurd, that'd be one of the most shocking falls in the draft I've ever seen. DX would be better off not even having him mocked.

They have Lydon over Lauri Markannen which is probably not a safe bet either.

I think the league is trending in the direction of 7'1 PF's being popular anyway, so Thon obviously stands to benefit.

Yes, because this team is capable of being a playoff team. If we do not make it means that the jazz dealt with injuries or some of the players we have hope for are not good and need to be sent off.
 
I would feel like it was a wasted season to miss the playoffs. With how well we played at the end of last season this team should make the playoffs. I don't want the lottery. We would have to be an awful team for the lottery to give us the kind of player we need to make the playoffs.

If we miss the playoffs it tells me that this core isn't going to work out
