Yes, one of my biggest pet peeves. It seems like everyone says it also.

I look at this situation the way I look at teaching. There are two kind of teachers, technical teachers and reflecting teachers. Coaches are more or less teachers, so the same goes for them.

A technical coach goes with what's tried-and-true and doesn't rock the boat. You know it's worked in the past, so why change it? A reflective coach looks at every game and thinks "What can I do to make thing different?" What worked, what didn't, and how do you learn from it? Being technical minimizes the risk, but being reflective increases possibilities.

The problem is that your choice between the two doesn't really have to do with training, experience, or whatever else, but deeply-rooted attitudes towards life in general. I'm worried that, at the end of the day, Corbin is a technical guy. That he lacks the belief and confidence that trying new things may be disastrous, but may also yield amazing results. You could see so many times this season how he lacked confidence to be bold. Even worse, he doesn't even necessarily have faith in his technical approach(like Coach did for two decades), but is open to outside pressure. He wilted before the vets most of the season, only to finally snap at Bell late. He refused to start a taller lineup against the Spurs until well into the series. When he does make adjustments, you get a strong sense that it's not because he actually looked back and decided that a new approach is the way to go, but that it was a "Fine, let's try it the way everyone is suggesting" kind of a thing, without a real commitment to it.

This is why I haven't liked Corbin all along, this is why I want him replaced, and this is why I worry that if we don't, he'll still have the exact same habits 5 years from now.

If Chicago doesn't re-sign coach tibs the jazz should do whatever it takes to get him. Including firing Corbin. If you can't really upgrade, then bring him back.

I would love for Corbin to be gone. I think this roster was under appreciated during the off season. Corbin is getting credit for his team overachieving. But maybe they just had more talent than everybody thought.

I really think he's a terrible coach. He's trying to replicate Sloans offense but only seems to have picked up part of it. He does not seem to adjust during games. And he does not seem to break away from players who are not performing. His offense is predictable and ineffective.

All that said there is no way in hell they will fire him now.

Do you understand how ridiculous it is to police the usage of catch phrases or regional slang? I honestly can't think of a bigger waste of time.

Often, these things come about via play with language. Should we stop playing because you don't like it? They also come about because people speak English away from the places that get to say what it should sound like; when did you become so powerful?

I am not impressed by Ty yet, but I think we can wait through the upcoming season before considering firing him.

Give the guy a training camp and a full big-boy season first. Corbin hasn't even had a chance to get his feet under him yet.

That's one thing I thought would be more accepted or understood around here. That a good time to break in a new coach and let him take his lumps is when the players are in the same category, neither have high expectations so less pressure and easier to grow and get better but if any fail also easier to get rid of.

Also I know I've said this before but the contract was more a formality because without it he'd be setup for failure by management. No way do players listen to a coach they perceive as a lame duck or no future with the team especially if there is any tension between them, the team will just quit and that is a quick way to let a losing culture seep in.

I agree with I wanted Hayward, Favors, Burks & Kanter to get more minutes. Hayward did get a lot and Favors got some but deserved more (remember he did start at PF to begin the season) especially at the end of the season and playoffs when he started to show improvement. Burks should've gotten a little more considering the lack of legitimate competition in front of him the same cannot be said for Kanter he got almost as many minutes as could realistically be expected with the players in front of him.

For a first year coach he did IMO a pretty good job balancing all this out coming out of the mess that was last season and into a strike shortened season while also replacing a HOF coach. If he plays the young guys to much he loses the vets on the team (almost happened anyway despite how many minutes he did give some of them) and could possibly be perceived as we don't care about winning this season and risk starting a losing culture.

Sorry I tried to condense that and still wrote a gosh darn novel of a post.

So in short just like if a certain player came a long you would have to trade any current player, if certain coaches came along than you have to improve but I don't think the Jazz are actively in the mind set nor should they be of getting rid of Corbin.

It, honestly, drives me insane to see how many people are hating on Tyrone Corbin. He took a team that was supposed to be one of the worst teams in the Western Conference and got them into the playoffs. What more were you expecting with a team this young playing with no Summer league, training camp, and only 2 preseason games?

Dude, I just said it was one of my pet peeves. It annoys me, I can't help it. You are getting back to making a huge deal out of every post I make like I'm not allowed to have an opinion. Surely there are some things that annoy you that are trivial.

I voted for be mad because I want to give him this year before a decision on him is truly reached.
