You're KOC on draft night. You've been unable to move up from #6. The first five picks have been chosen. Workouts have convinced you that everyone left on the board is likely to be no more than a solid backup, except for Biyombo, who you're pretty sure will have a Ben Wallace-like career. Orlando's decided it needs third reliable scorer and is offering you Redick and Anderson for Millsap. Do you make the trade and draft Biyombo?

What if Orlando insists on Millsap plus the #12 pick?

They better be offering us Richardson, which I would still deny, because he is old as hell.

Let me see if I've got this. This move nets the Jazz two good outside shooters. Anderson is a good outside shooter, isn't he? I wonder if they could part with a future pick in addition or instead of Anderson.

To do this the Jazz give up a stud in Millsap, who plays a position he's a little undersized for and one the Jazz are stacked at already, not to mention this year's PF heavy draft (you mentioned Biyombo as a Millsap replacement).

I think this is well thought out. Only thing I wonder about is if this is the maximum they can get for Millsap or if there might be a better deal elsewhere. But I'm not poo-pooing it at all. If this deal were on the table I think it would definitely be one worth considering.

If Millsap's trend of vast off-season improvement continues, it would not surprise me if he became a better outside shooter than Anderson, or at least a more efficient one.

No reason to trade Millsap or get pushed into anything in the draft. Millsap a great sixth man and can play 30 mins. based on the match-up. Biyombo would just be a rookie and would take as much time from Fess as he would from Millsap.

Besides, Jan Vesely, Jonas Valanciunas and Terrence Jones are legit picks even at six. The Jazz should pick the best player they can regardless of position.

Oh, and rumors are already starting that the Magic will try to proactively trade Dwight Howard before he becomes a FA.

Yeah, Millsap > Anderson certainly. It's just a matter of dealing with the drop-off from Sap to Anderson in order to get you Redick. But getting Redick means Hayward moves back to the 3. And I really like him at the 2. I'd rather just draft Barnes.

I think this discussions over. At least until we find out the results of the lottery.

Redick's good - he can hit from outside, which the Jazz would benefit from. But he's not nearly equal to Millsap. Orlando would have to give more. Anderson is NOT more - he'd be replacing Millsap at a position that the Jazz are already too crowded at anyway. The Jazz don't need to replace Millsap, they need to move his production to another position. If Millsap could be just as good at the 3 as he is at the 4 then the move wouldn't be needed. The jury's out still if Millsap can be a positive for the Jazz while manning the sf position.

At any rate, this would not be an equal trade unless Orlando gave up something of value to Utah, in addition to Redick.

I would consider this but I think we would want more. Only thing that would then worry me is jazz would draft fredette and we would have the wonder twins who can't defend

I'll be pretty depressed if we end up with any of those at 6. Those Euros could pan out, but probably not. Jones is would be fine at 12, but 6? Sigh....

Redick > Richardson.

While I'm not defending this trade, because I wouldn't do it, but it's not that bad. Redick is a great shooter, has improved his off the dribble game and is a pretty decent defender contrary to popular opinion. He has dramatically improved since his rookie year.

Anderson is meh. Good outside shooter, but he's a shorter poor man's Mehmet Okur.

Lets not fall into the same mistake that we did the last two years and take a position that we have some depth in and move players just because. Milsap is a better player that most of you are giving him credit. Yes, he is undersized. But, moving him to get two mediocre players would not be worth it. I would move Milsap for a player like Granger (IND), Gordon (LAC), or a Curry (GSW). These are some shooters that would help the Jazz. I wouldn't make this move for Redick and Anderson.

You're right. Throw in some filler like Raja for one of those guys. Still dunno if its possible though. Indy already has Psycho T so they may not wanna give up Granger to upgrade at PF.
