Would you sign Gobert to 4/135?

Would you want to retain Gobert at 4/135?

You know how pissed Mitchell would be if you traded Gobert and Conley for a bunch of mediocre future pieces? The trades Lopo is presenting would mean Utah isnt a playoff team anymore. Dude would be livid.

You really think Mitchell wants to go from playing with an All-Star DPOY and highly respected starter level veteran PG to a bunch of unproven role players? You really think the guy who just averaged 36 ppg in a playoff series wants to play with DeAndre Hunter and John Collins?

I still think my favorite scenario all financials aside is extend Mitchell and Gobert. Resign JC. Make a trade with philly sending Conley for Harris and Milton. With a first. Because I like those two hahaha. MLE for KDunn. BAE for Baynes. Use #21 and #23 for the Aussie pair in RJ Hampton and Josh Green.

Guards: Mitchell, Dunn, Clarkson, Milton
Wings: Bogdonavic, Harris, Ingles, O’Neal
Center: Gobert, Baynes

Get it done DL

The same amount that John Stockton and Karl Malone won combined.

Cute. Malone and Stockton at least went to two finals as the main cogs and lost to the greatest player ever both times.

Mutombo didn’t really do jack. That Sixers’ team would’ve gone without him and was a better team with Theo Ratliff imo as I watched every game of them that year and loved them.

My view: title is out for a year or two because of Lebron/AD. Let's clear the table to gear up for 2 years from now and ALSO make it entertaining until then. Keep Rudy, bring back faves, trade conley, keep clarkson, and do something wild like bring Hayward back. Sign Memo as assistant coach. Trade for JR smith. I wanna get NUTS.

You're right... all he did was win the DPOY that year and help care a bum *** team to the finals that had no business being there. He was +11.5 net rating and played almost 1,000 minutes in that run.

They lost to a team that had the most dominant player ever in his prime... but sure he was trash... hopefully Rudy's trash *** can carry us to a finals.

Until he can developed some sort of consistent offense, I say no. Either some sort of post move or 5-10 ft shot.

I never said he was trash. But Ratliff, that year, for what the Sixers were and needed, was better IMO.

If you answered "no" then you are basically saying "yes" to trading Rudy because he will get that type of money from us or another team.

Who?

Draymond Green is getting 28 million per year - I think Rudy's value is the same. Previous DPOY - a guy who is basically the heart and soul of the team, but not its best player, and maybe not even its second best player, but it's best defender by far. Rudy's role on our club is very similar to Draymond's with GSW. That being said, the Jazz haven't won QUITE as many championships as the GSW, and the Utah Jazz don't pull in QUITE as much money as GSW franchise despite having the "Silicon Slopes", it's not QUITE as prosperous as Silicon Valley.

I think if the Jazz offer Rudy a 4 year 28 million per deal - he better find a pen real quick. The Jazz can have incentives included that get him at 30 - rebounding in particular and other categories that they think are important moving forward. The highest paid centers in the league at Jokic 30-33 mil per over the next four years, ditto with Karl Anthony Towns, Nikola Vucevic and Kristaps Porzingis - they all shoot 3 pointers around 40% and 80% on free throws. The highest paid DEFENSIVE center in the NBA is Rudy Gobert.

Andre Drummond's and Hassan Whiteside's free agency this summer, should be a good indicator to Gobert what his value is. He's better than both of them, but Rudy is best of THAT type of 5 player.

Jordan Clarkson's market won't drive DM's... just like whiteside and Drummond won't drive Rudy's.

He will be the highest paid defensive center... you want to know why... because he's the best ****ing defensive center in the league. What's amazing about all those 3 point shooting centers is that Rudy is still better than all of them.

I need Tylenol.

We could just keep Rudy and take a step forward another way... just a thought.

Assuming you could even get the Atlanta deal you want (I'm skeptical but its plausible). You might be taking a step back and then taking a sideways step later.

We could even do a 4/135 but have like 15M tied to incentives for making the playoffs and games played. If he's healthy and we are a playoff team he's likely worth the money.

I ain't saying Rudy is untradeable but those that are rushing to trade him at every turn are a little silly imo. You trade Rudy if:

1- you get a godfather offer too good to refuse.
2- He refuses to sign a reasonable extension.
3- If Don and him still can't get along and you need to choose between the two... or its headed that direction.
Taking a step forward is the 2nd round I have already given us credit for (even though we haven't gotten there in a while).

All depends. If reports are true, there was already some friction between Don and Rudy before all the COVID drama. He might welcome a change.

And if we target guys Don is close with, then he might actually be happier. Guys like Collins, Brown, etc.

Losing Rudy doesn't mean we miss the playoffs. Quit being all extreme.

Those 3 reasons are exactly the reasons I have been saying all along. Take an overpay trade, or trade because he won't resign, or trade because of Don fit.

If he stays on a fair deal, do it.

Hanging with your friends is different than working with them.

But you voted no... 30 M is fair... 4/120 is not materially different than 4/135. What exactly are you expecting? And what does the extra $$$$ really even do for us?
