count me as a hell no. I still love kessler and fu to the losers who have given up on him. now for the first pick overall, thats a different story. id probably help Kessler pack his **** to show my appreciation.
My biggest concern with Kessler isn't even Kessler it is Hardy. If Kessler isn't a Hardy guy then I would prefer to move on from him rather than be frustrated with his minute distribution like I was this year.

If you are the Grizzlies and can get Kessler for the 9th pick in this draft you make that trade 100% of the time. Half the dudes selected in the top 10 this year will be out of the league in 5 years.

Kessler would have a big role for them too. That value for $3-$5M a year is a huge steal for a team that is right up against the tax like MEM.

If I got Cody Williams and Zach Edey and I only gave up Kessler then I would do it. Maybe I would ask for second round pick. Kessler would thrive and we would lose until Edey got better which is good for 2025. Shoot Collins would probably play better with Edey.

Trade 29 and 32 for 22 and select whoever maybe Dunn. Cody, Edey, Dunn. That would be a great draft.

I think I do that both from the Jazz perspective and Grizzlies. I love(d) Kessler but some of the **** I’m hearing about his focus/ethic bother me and the org doesn’t seem to believe in him. To echo @KqWIN ’s sentiments, he might pop somewhere else but my confidence has been mightily shaken it will happen here, so might as well make the most of a sub-optimal situation.

If you’re team tank, then this is also probably a great tank move.

OKC also seems thirsty for a player like Kessler, so I wonder if we could do Kessler/#29 for #12 and our pick back or something along those lines.

(To be clear though, I’m perfectly happy keeping WK to see if this situation irons out and he gets back on track. It’s just that if he doesn’t, his value will start hemorrhaging.)

I can see why Memphis would do it if Clingan is off the board.

I'm already on record saying I would trade Kessler straight up for Cling Kong but it's doubtful he's there at 9. Otherwise I'd have to think long and hard about even considering to deal Kessler. This draft is fairly deep with big men (Edey, Filipowski, Ware, Missi, Bona) and hopefully Hendricks can bulk up a little to eventually play some minutes at the 5 at some point.. We really don't know what's going on behind the scenes but do find it very curious that Ainge is expecting Kessler to play in summer league. Hopefully all the rumors about him wanting to be a stretch 5 are overblown because even Stevie Wonder can see that 3 pt shooting is never going to be one of his strengths.

If Filipowski shows up second on your list this draft is NOT deep on big men.

I would, but only because I really soured on his sophomore year. That said, this season was such a *********** that perhaps it's not being fair. Still, before I quit watching the Jazz in disgust his play out there was timid as hell.

How far up could we move with 9+10?

Who could we get there?

Would working John Collins into that package sweeten the deal or worsen it for the other team?

So it seems like there is no shot Donovan Clingan, the presumed #1 prospect for the Grizzlies, falls to them at 9 and they probably dont want to pay the cost to move up.

On social media general NBA fans/Grizzlies fans take the idea of a 9/Walker swap pretty positively. I guess around the NBA Walker is still seen as a great young rim protector and they dont have the bad taste in their mouth of him stagnating in his 2nd year.

So would you do Walker for the 9th pick?

Not only no, but **** no.

Every single person on this thread wanting to trade Kessler would have also wanted to trade Gobert early in his career as well. There was a thread where some moron suggested using Gobert to move up to grab Sacramento's 8 pick. Not a single person said, "No way, Gobert is worth more than that!"

At least that moron learned something.

Absolutely not lol. We’ve got to stop making that comparison. Completely different levels of players.

Fun thread to read through.
