What's new

Yay Pacers

Clearly to someone with an above average reading comprehension level, yes.

What do you not understand about the words, "odds against" and "might"?

You implied that despite the unlikelihood of the Pacers winning, you still thought it would happen. Or do you not understand the words which you wrote?

The word "would" has a different meaning than the words "might" or "odds against". Things turned out exactly as I expected them to.

Your statement makes no sense. If I implied that it was unlikely that the Pacers would win, than this would be in conflict with saying that they would win, which is why I did not say that they would win.

So you are saying that with your initial statement you were simply acknowledging that there existed some probability greater than zero that the Pacers could win?

Then I am going to cover my bases for tomorrow. I think that maybe on the off chance that something might happen that I will think that it could happen even though it probably wont.

No no matter what I can claim that I was right.

No, that's not what I was saying either. Two strikes. I'll give you another chance to try for a reasonable interpretation if you want.

Please elaborate what you meant then saying that you think the pacers might pull it off, since my mind is apparently unable to comprehend.

k.
I said that the odds are against them. This clearly means that the odds were less than 50%.
NBA Game 7s are won by the visiting team about 20% of the time.
Some fans here gave the Pacers little to no chance.
I was saying that the Pacers had a decent chance, less than 50% but well above 0%, and above 20%.
They had a shot, they had the personnel, they had some momentum, but the home court advantage won out.
Their two best players were in foul trouble the whole game, and they could not improve the turnover deficit.
