What's new

Yesterday - Bundy Ranch

Well, that is a broad question, as public land can be federally owned, state owned, etc. Federal land is owned by the goverment and the people collectively. We entrust our elected officials (who in turn give power to agencies, etc. to make land use decisions...). The govt decides development, use, and environmental/presevation principles over such land. If we dont like what is going on, we need to vote people into place that will better represent our interests.

That's where I have the problem. I think it is too often that those in control are persuaded (even innocently) to make decisions based on the good of a few select rather than the interest of the greater good.

Funny I'm even saying any of this. I've long been one of the most right-wing, free enterprise, capitalists I've ever known... maybe I'm getting weak as I get older.

Pkm i love ya, but what it looks like is some dude was breaking the law.

The government should have sent a few cops over to handle it and instead sent snipers, more men than neccessary etc etc.

So the dude has a bunch of people come out and support him breaking the law and go against the fact that the government overreacted to situation.

You seem to support the militias/bundys because of the simple fact that the government overreacted in thier handling of the lawbreaker.

So if some dude raped a 13 year old girl and instead of a few cops coming to arrest the man, the government sent a swat team with snipers and everthing and then rapists buddies came with thier guns and militias would you support the rapist dude? Of course you wouldnt.

But fact is that if bundy doesnt break the law, then nothing ever happens.

This seems to set an example and standard.

If i dont feel like following a law then i shouldnt have to and i should round up as many people as possible with guns and militias and hope that the law enforcement agencies back off.

Im gonna start breaking into people homes now and if anyone tries to arrest me then i need to organize a similar standoff and hope that the cops/feds just back down and let me continue breaking into peoples homes.

I understand what bundy did is not as bad as the examples i gave but it seems that he believes he can pick and choose what laws to follow and if the law enforces try to enforce the ones he decides not to follow then he just get a bunch of people together and intimidate the cops away

Disregard my last post.
I shouldnt have used rape and breaking and entering as my examples

I guess what im trying to say is:

Bundy breaks the law..... a couple of cops show up to enforce that law = Bundy is in the wrong in that scenario.

Bundy breaks the law..... More cops than are neccessary show up to enforce the law = Now bundy is in the right and people should take his side and defend him?

Doesn't add up to me. I think that bundy is in the wrong in both cases.
I could see being upset at the way that the law enforcers handled things, but it seems like bundy is getting a free pass to break the law just because he has lots of people with guns on his side.

I'm just saying it was cool to see.

And harry reid can suck it.

You don't know these people. Awfully intellectually elitist of you to assume you do.

I'll say this. WHEN **** goes down, I would rather have these people as friends than those with their 'higher ideals.'

Being called elitist for taking a stand against thugs training weapons on US soldiers is a badge of honor I'll gladly wear. Theres no way I could ever support anyone putting American soldiers and servicemen in their crosshairs like this.

The sheer fact that Alex Jones and his band of worshiping dolts is running with this story should tell you everything you need to know. To top it off, just like any good TV evangelist, Jones passes around the collection plate at the end of the video for his faithful sheep to put their money into. War bonds, dude.

I guess I just don't understand the idea of supporting someone or something, especially when you know that it is wrong or false. Does the end justify the means? I am absolutely with franklin on this one:

Those agents were doing their jobs. They have dedicated their lives and put their lives on the line every single day so that people like Bundy can live the way they do. The amount of ignorant hypocrisy coming out of this whole situation is staggering. This whole situation infuriates me.

To summarize, Bundy refused to pay a fee to graze his cattle, was issued a court order to remove his cattle and then told the federal government to suck it, correct? Seriously, if I am missing something here I really would like to know.

Hog wash. Didn't you know that all politicians are scumbags at heart and will eventually cave to SIG's? And don't even bother with the whole "non-voters" thing; in a country where every vote counts, people who don't vote hardly have any impact on anything. For real.

Haha, I swear I posted my thoughts before I read this. $$$$

Heaven forbid you take five minutes and read the news, this thread or the other thread. You just relax, we'll do all the work for you, figure out what is right and what is wrong, and then you just blindly follow what we say.

And you claim to be a Republican...
