What's new

You heard it hear first... Trade/Offseason prediction thread!

I do think the Jazz make the move for Bledsoe, whether it is draft day, or after CP3 signs a contract. The question is who would we take back with Bledsoe? DeAndre Jordan might even be a bigger mistake than getting Pau, especially if Bledsoe walks after next season. So what will the cost be of getting Bledsoe?

I think the Clipps could have serious interest in Millsap; and I think Millsap want to win and play with a real PG, so he may be interested even if that means coming off the bench (he'd still close most games). So, S&T Millsap to LAC with other bits for Bledsoe and salary match. This is possible, at least.

Another move that could make sense is to sign and trade with the Bobcats for one of Millsap or Jefferson, and getting a draft pick or one of their young guys that could turn into a role player to back up one of our young guys eventually.

Bobcats could sign either outright. Did you look at Char's salary commitments?

I think Marvin will be traded, but for who and what? This might be one where we take back a contract that has another year on it, to get a good asset. I heard from a few people that they thought Marvin would be traded at the deadline, so I think the Jazz will try to move him this offseason.

My bet would be that Marvin gets included in a deal only if he is a salary match for a player the jazz want to commit to long-term. Otherwise, I don't see him getting us a good pick or anything else (but I'll admit, my imagination has become a bit jaundiced by the non-moves of our organization).

Personally I hope that they go after bigs that supplement Favors and Kanter as the main bigs instead of taking the spotlight from them and go after a legit point guard or SF/SG.

Lots of people here are talking about Landry. That's not a bad idea.

I don't like Landry with Kanter. Landry and Favors is good, though.

Hickson works with either Favors or Kanter. That's why I favor a short term overpay for Hickson. Really good three man rotation, there.

There will be a big signed one way or the other. Question you have to ask yourself is which Big would you want out of Gasol, Sap, Big Al, Kaman and Brand? 1 Big will not steal all of the minutes. I fully expect to see Favors start and kanter be the primary back up next year. Favors will get 33 ish minutes and Kanter will get 25.

Carl Landry
JJ Hickson
Aaron Gray
Jason Maxielle
Kurt Thomas
ZaZa
Diop
Kaman
Muhammad
Turiaf
Dalembert
Lopez
Splitter
Okafur

Those are all players I would rather have than Gasol, Sap and Al. I wouldn't mind Brand if he was cheap (<5 million) and knew he was a bench guy.

First those two picks better be top 20 protected, and second if we are giving two picks, I sure as hell am not Dow with just giving up Burks with those picks for the Clips backup. So pick either or, but not both. Either we give Burks streght up or the two picks.

The insane package you want to give up is pretty close to the package we got for Deron. I'm not saying its as good, but Bledsoe is no where near Deron's level. Don't get me wrong I love Bledsoe's game, but if the jazz want him they just need to be patient and the price will come down, similar to the trade the Bucs just made for Darrelle Revis. The jets wanted two firsts, and ended up only getting a first this year and a probable third next.

I would NOT give up Burks for Bledsoe. Burks is/will be the better player.

I predict we don't spend over $5 million on a free agent, including our own. Greg is going to be a cheap ******* this offseason.

I hope so. There is NO reason to spend more than 5 million on any player we could potentially land in this free agent class.

Turn it over to the young guys and if they lose, our consolation prize will be Jabari.

Ok ! here is mine; JAZZ get Schroeder and he becomes all star and rookie of the year and leads to playoff !!!! Kanter , Favor, Schroeder ! Burks and Hayward not to sure but hope they imrove!

I wouldn't mind him being cheap this year. Paul isn't going to sign with Utah and I'm not big on this freeagentcy class, would rather wait and be big spenders with a deeper freeagentcy class. And with the jazz only having 5 guys under contract I promise they spend more then 5million.

Plus, NBA player attitudes are going to have to change. The luxury tax penalties increase dramatically this next year. Players will be forced to go to small market teams as owners won't be as willing to go over the cap as much anymore.
