Your Favorite Lyrics in Rock/Popular Music

That is hilarious by the way. What is even better is that these lyrics are not much worse than the real lyrics. This is actually one reason I cannot stand Pearl Jam. Over-hyped (seems to be a lot of that in threads lately) and Vedder just is unintelligible in such an annoying way that the music itself doesn't matter.

Here are the "real" lyrics. Listen to the video and read these and see which fit better.

Unsealed, on a porch a letter sat
Then you said, "I wanna leave it again"
Once I saw her on a beach of weathered sand
And on the sand I wanna leave her again

On a weekend I wanna wish it all away, yeah
And they called and I said that I'll go
And I said that I'll call out again
And the reason I ought ta leave her calm, I know
I said, "I don't know whether I'm the boxer or the bag"

Oh yeah, can you see them, out on the porch?
Yeah, but they don't wave
I see them 'round the front way, yeah
And I know, and I know I don't wanna stay

Make me cry

I see oh, I don't know why there's something else
I want to, wanna drum it all away
I said, "I don't, I don't know whether I was the boxer or the bag"

Oh yeah, can you see them, out the on porch?
Yeah, but they don't wave
I see them 'round the front way
And I know, and I know I don't want to stay at all
I don't want to stay
I don't want to stay
I don't want to stay
I don't, I don't want to stay

Could anyone physically be any more stoned and not be dead?

Go and get a loaf of my bread indeed.

OK for trout (and for everyone else). Great song. And doubly funny if you speak german.

I always wondered what the real lyrics were. It doesn't really matter after you learn the interpretive version anyway. You can never hear anything but "potato wave" and "brown the runway" ever again.

I was drunk
I was loud
I was invincible
and I was proud
Yeah I was drunk
and I was loud
I was invincible
and I was proud

After 10,000 beers and 28 years
finally figured it out
It's about time
I settle on down

Well I'm not saying this is the end
and I still go get drunk with my friends
and I might risk my life for moment in time
No I aint had my last sip
and I'll tare up that desert with you
and I know we'll have more than a few
Well it got me this far with plenty of scars
The only one with those tatoos

After 10,000 beers and 28 years
I finally figured it out
It's about time
I settle on down

Well I was drunk
and I was loud
I was invincible
and i was proud
and I'll never change
I'll stay the same
I'll live my life
My own damn way
yeahhhhhh

After 10,000 beers and 28 years
Finally figured it out
There's penty of time
just to settle on down
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I was drunk
and I was loud
I was invincible
and I was proud
Yeah I was drunk
and I was loud
I was invincible
and I was proud
After 10,000 beers and 28 years
I finally figured it out

There's plenty of time
just to settle on down
Yeah there's plenty of time
just to settle on down
There's plenty of time (time to)
better settle on down
Yeah settle on down

Good call on Rocket Queen by G'NR and Happiness is a warm gun.

My favorite lyricist in music is probably James Hetfield. A few of my more favorite Hetfield gems:

Slashing through the action
Returning the reaction
Weak are ripped and torn away

Take a look to the sky just before you die
It's the last time you will

And my personal favorite from Master Of Puppets:

Needlework the way
Never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer

Pain monopoly
Ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror

Nice seeing another RB fan.

Here's a classic...

Now everybody have you heard
If you're in the game, then the stroke's the word
Don't take no rhythm, don't take no style
Got a thirst for killin', grab your vile...

You put your right hand out give a firm hand-shake
Talk to me about that one big break...
Spread your ear-pollution both far and wide...
Keep your contributions by your side and stroke me,
stroke me
Could be a winner boy, you move quite well...
You got your number down...
Say you're a winner but man you're just a sinner now

You put your left foot out keep it all in place...
Work your way right into my case
First you try to bed me you make my backbone slide
But when you found you bled me-- skip on by...
keep on---stroke me, stroke me
Give me the business all night long...
You're so together boy...
Say you're a winner but man you're just a sinner now

Better listen now (said) it ain't no joke
Let your conscience fail ya, just do the stroke
Don'tcha take no chances keep your eye on top
Do your fancy dances you can't stop you just stroke me,
stroke me

Good call on Rocket Queen by G'NR

That whole album was simply awesome. In fact, the worst song was one of their biggest commercial successes, Paradise City.

Welcome To The Jungle

It's So Easy

Nightrain

Out Ta Get Me

Mr. Brownstone

Paradise City

My Michelle

Think About You

Sweet Child o' Mine

You're Crazy

Anything Goes

Rocket Queen

I always liked Night Train. I remember when that album came out. It was such a breath of fresh air in the bubble-gum glam-rock garbage of the 80's.
