I've never been that big on Mirotic. He's a solid player, but he's a defensive liability. I always thought he was more of a shooter than a scorer. Right now, we need a scorer more than just a guy who can shoot.

And we need a guy that can shoot much more than we need a center playing alongside a better center.

Ehhhh… I'm not sure any of that is true. I said I was against the trade at the time. I also said I might have considered it... didn't say I would definitely do it. I thought NO overpaid.

I'm saying @infection was right in that he said all along we would make the playoffs when 90% of the board was ready to tank the effs outta that B. Whether he was right on what Niko would do for us or if the price was right no one knows. I am not a fan of going back and undoing one huge move and then trying to think of how that would change everything... way too many variables to consider.

Like what if we send AB in the trade with our pick then decide to operate as a cap space team and sign a guy or two... its just too hard to undo everything. We could have also made the playoffs but played someone other than OKC and lost... or lost to OKC.

The Mirotic trade changes the trajectory of that season for the worse. If DL does that trade, Jazz miss the playoffs and everyone wants to hang DL when we dont get Kevin Huerter/Troy Brown/Lonnie Walker/Michael Porter/Etc.

It seems the Jazz were really high on some prospects, specially if we landed were most people expected us to finish (lottery or high teens ). It was pretty clear at the time we were not trading that pick for 1.5 years of Niko. It would have been nice to add him at the time but the risk & price was high for a role player that wasn't exactly bringing a championship to Salt Lake.

In hindsight, I'm ok we didn't trade the first. I'm quite optimistic about Allen. And we could get Niko for peanuts now, after he was exposed in the playoffs (and basically having a terrible year). The timing might be better now, just when our window into contention could open

He's more than a stand still shooter... has more to his game. He's not great on defense, but he's not as bad as some people make him out to be. He's a decent rebounder and he's tall so he gets a block here and there... there are some positives... he's not a total zero on that end.

I do think if we had a guy like him that was a target defensively that teams might try and get him on the switch leaving Rudy to hang around the paint. I don't think he's the type that totally compromises your defense.

I'd love to have a playmaking, shooting, great defender at the 4... I would, but not even Tobias checks all those boxes and teams will be lining up to hand him the max. If you get Niko maybe you can find a perimeter guy (at any position 1-3) that can add some playmaking.

Asik cost them the same cap space AB would have plus he is owed $3M next year... so they didn't get an expiring and AB's contract would have been more palatable imo.

Korver is an amazing shooter, but his defense is a liability. He didn't play in the Houston series at all. Mirotic is a shooter with poor defense. He played less and less as the playoffs went along.

Favors plays really good defense and is there when Gobert needs a break. He would actually play more than Mirotic once we realize Mirotic plays awful defense and can't score without being left wide open.

That's fine I was addressing your issue though with the AB inclusion is all. Asik was guaranteed last year... has $3M guaranteed next year.

So the AD deal sounds like it will expand out to 3rd teams to provide either picks for players they don't necessarily want or players for picks they don't value as highly.

I wonder if Kuzma/Ingram would get re-routed I don't think we could get either with what we can give.

If they didn't want Knox (not sure why many are giving up on him so early... rookies aren't good... it happens) I wonder if we'd have interest.

I'm not sure we could snake anything really good with our pick this year or next, but just thought there might be something you could sneak in and get fi the right opportunity pops up.

If we are willing to take on Solomon Hill's $13.3 for next year, we could be players in the trade. Doubt we could get Kuzma, but he would be ideal. I would take a chance on Knox and Ntilikina.

Korver was hurt... like he looked like a mummy out there. Niko hit a slump in the wrong part of the season. He also had to integrate into a team when he wasn't healthy so never really had much of a rhythm. Guys that can't shoot, dribble, or create offense get less playing time as the playoffs advance.

Niko gets like 9 threes off per 36... he doesn't need to be wide open. It's fine if you prefer Favs but make a more accurate assessment of his game. He's streaky AF which is good and bad. He may give you 5/6 threes and win a game by himself... when he isn't making them though players still rotate out which creates space.

Danny Green and FVV went through big slumps in the playoffs... it happens... look at them now.
