Zach Lowe tells Utah (and a couple other teams) what to do in free agency

I'd say at least $13 million per year
DL took a LOT of heat on this board for the contract he gave Alec. Looking like a pretty shrewd move now. I know...haters gonna say we should have let him walk and signed Carroll instead.

I'm going to laugh when the "did nothing" Jazz win 50-55 games this year and all these writers suddenly start praising the decision to let the youngsters develop. Seriously, out of all the non- playoff teams, the Jazz were the only one with a starting lineup already under contract (and a few key subs, too). That's why Utah didn't need to buy players at a 30% markup. Teams are overpaying based on the cap going up next season. There is no value in the market right now.

Alec probably would've got about the same even with the injury, maybe a tiny bit less. If Shump can get 40 Alec is worth that much.

you've got to scrap old notions of value. Right now, the jazz have a chance to buy talent at what will be better value two and three years from now. The 30% markup (or however you want to quantify it) is real. That is the value of the market (and, there is no such thing as a market without value).

There are a few good acquisitions left out there. I'm holding my breath that the jazz get one.

BTW, I didn't say one bitchy word about Alec's contract. Given what we knew about the cap, it was obviously good value.

Exactly.

Everyone is like, go get a free agent, they are really cheap. Uh...no they arent. The cap might as well be 100 mil. Players are getting paid like it is. At least the lower level players are.

I think you missed his point. See above post.

Draymond Green and Golden State have broken off talks.
Go get him Jazz. I'm sure Golden State would match, but maybe not.

Can you imagine how good our defense would be with him. I think we could put him at the 3. He's really versatile. I'm sure his shooting will improve. It's not that bad anyways.

The defense here would be off the charts good. Probably hold teams to 60 points a game.
