What's new

Butler

Hood can play D, don't let these clowns fool you. He is recovering from an injury, you can't expect his D to be on point right now.

He couldn't defend at Duke cuz Duke sucks at defense as a team. He was a good defender at MSU.

He had a couple good sequences and games early in the season. I don't think he's terrible

I just don't think he'll be a specialist of defense, y'know. I think his ceiling is probably like Hayward. Hood is too good offensively (and too bad defensively) to be thrown in the role that is 3-N-D. Just a stupid role to put him in. Is Korver 3andD? Does anyone give a ****?

There hasn't been one level of play where he's looked like even an average defender. He was terrible at Duke. I think it would be more accurate to say his ceiling is a 3 and D guy, rather than saying that's his floor.

Honestly kkkkkk, did you watch him at all in college?
Didn't watch him much in college as didn't think we would be able to get him late but I guess I'll take your word for it that he was a poor defender. Just hasn't played enough for the Jazz but from what I've seen he isn't all that bad. Moves his feet well. Stays in front of defender s well.

Just worried about the plantar fasciaitis issue. Jazz are doing a great job switching, running out to contest 3's, etc. Any kind of injury, weakness or even worrying about forward and lateral movement is going to hurt his defense.

I couldn't disagree more. He struggles keeping his man in front, and his defensive footwork is below average as well.

He was terrible at Duke, I agree with that but he is much improved in NBA. He shows much more willingness to stay in front of his man and doesn't give up on his guy. I never thought he would improve this much and I am genuinely surprised and hopeful. He still make mistakes and has some bad habits and has a short wingspan.

I'm willing to acknowledge that you paid closer attention to Hood his one year at Duke than I did. But, I did watch plenty of Duke that year because of the Jabari thing, and I sign my name with others who have said that Coach K didn't get seem to get as much out of Hood as he could have.

Hood definitely needs to learn better defensive habits, but he seems closer to me than Burks ever has (if we're looking at the list of players who have all the tools but haven't put it together). I don't think it's likely that he'll end up a specialist, but he CAN be a fully adequate team defender. (As can Burks).

LMFAOLMFAO. This is the clown who had PLENTYYY of opinions about Jabari..... but you didn't watch Hood very much? Give me a ****ing break you troll.

This. He hasn't set the world on fire with his defense, but he has been a willing defender in the NBA and was learning/improving when the injuries hit.

Good to know, thanks bro.

No I did not. I did have plenty of opinions about Randle (well documented during Randle 4 SF, and the #hungry campaign) but not Jabari. Get your facts straight old man.

Are we calling those "opinions"? Whatever.

I'm not going to pick back through that massive thread, but you know damn well you have "opinions" about every hyped player in lottery, and that one of those dudes was named Jabari Parker. GTFO.

You're insufferable. You also thought he could more than adequately replace Hayward, remember? Needless to say, I don't trust, or respect your opinion.

NAOS is correct here if I remember correctly.

I'm also pretty sure that hotttnickkk was so amped about Hood that he was talking about ROY.

Why is someone "down" on Burks if they think he is sixth man of the year? Does Dallas win a title without JJ Barea?

I'd close games with: Exum, Hayward, Favors, Gobert. The fifth guy would depend on matchups and how the game is going. If Burks has been playing well, then close with him. If our 3&D guy has been rocking it, go that way. Heck, if we are down 5 and Hood has been stroking it, close with him.

Or you can just close the game with your five best players unless something is really working or isn't. 6th men of the year usually close games, btw. If Butler and Hayward are here, Burks is a pure-sub.

my favourite hotttnickkism lately was when he compared Pliess to Whithey. But, yeah, I spew trash. Also Oubre is McLemore.
