Am I racist?

I am selling something online. Big things, that need to be picked up in person. I have a set price and am getting a decent amount of interest.

Person A is wants me to hold it until 7 when they can get off work and come and get it. Has not mentioned price, just that they would like it. Normally I'd just say ok and hold it for them and tell everyone else to F off. The only "problem" is .... wait for it .... this person is of Mexican heritage. That's not really a problem in and of itself as Mexicans need washers and dryers as much as the next race. The problem lies in my past business dealings with Mexicans. I for some reason or another have done a fair amount of dealings with Mexicans via garage sales, stuff sold on KSL etc .... and every time they show up, conveniently forget how to speak English, try to shove half the agreed upon amount into my hand and try to get out and or away while I try and explain that's half or less than half of the price of the item and they cannot have said item until the total amount is in my hand. Its a pain in the ***.

Person B is a middle aged caucasian who has told me she would give me $400 cash and will come pick them up tonight. Now she contacted me second, but I'd rather deal with her as its almost a guarantee that it will be a simple transaction.

I am selling to person B. Am I a racist?

Yeah that sounds like racism.

I've sold a lot of stuff online and have adopted a very strict "first person with the cash gets the item" policy. I don't hold anything ever. If they need to pick it up later that's fine, drop the cash off and I'll be more than happy to hold the item. Other than that I wish them luck that the item is still around when they manage to get here with the cash.

Oh, and I do all price negotiating beforehand. They try to say, well I only have this much cash on me, will that work, when they made no effort to negotiate price when I told them how much it would cost and I tell them where the nearest ATMs are.

You don't want to do business with someone because you believe people of that ethnicity aren't reliable. If that isn't racist, then what is?

Person B also said they would drop off cash now and pick them up when her husband got home so that was the BIG deciding factor .... other than not wanting to deal with trying to get the correct amount of money given to me during the deal.

Time and time again it has been proven that its a hassle to deal with them in a transaction setting. So either I am getting very unlucky or its very common.

Definitely, definitely racist. You're making a judgement of a person based on a socially-constructed perception of a group that isn't homogenous-- despite what portrayals may indicate.

maybe these people weren't well off, financially-speaking.

So, if you're gonna make a judgement on a person, make it based on their financial situation-- not on race (even though even these judgements can be misleading). Poor white people exist as well.

And if you're gonna make the assumption that more Mexican people tend to be poor than white people, then you're correct in making that assumption. However, if you think that there is something intrinsic to Mexican people that makes them more likely to lowball you, and make this transaction difficult-- then you're being racist IMO.

I went to Walmart to buy some new sweat pants as I had gotten too fat to fit into all my current ones. The thing is I've been to Walmart before and the lines were very long. I found some sweat pants that I liked, that putrid turquoise color us waltards prefer, and left without paying for them. Am I a thief?

Maybe its a Tijuana thing and they are all from there. I've had all different races try and talk me down. I've never had another race try and sneak me less than the agreed upon amount and then act like they don't know any English when I try and get it straightened out. Let alone have it happen more than a few times. And its not a socially constructed perception. Its a reality that I've experienced enough times to not want to deal with it again.

This is the definition of Racist.
noun
1.
a person who believes in racism, the doctrine that one's own racial group is superior or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others.

Just because one person of a certain race or many of a certain race did something does not mean others will or that someone of your own race wont do that.

Racial stereotypes exist because a lot of people within that race fit that mold but that does not mean we are all not individuals and our race has nothing to do with how we will individually act.

Good news is if you are white you are almost guaranteed to be a little racist its inherit to our society and how we were raised. The important thing is to realize when you are being racist and try and fix it and not act on what slightly racist things pop in your head.

I wish more people would admit that racist thoughts pop in their head and that sometimes they act on it. We all are so quick to be defensive that we are not racist and never have been and never will be, which is a lie to yourself. If you can admit it you can try and fix it.

Stupid racist things pop in my head like this example as well. All we can do is realize it and try and do the right thing. Stick to your policy regardless of the individuals race. You might get burned again but you should treat them the same as you would treat anyone else because they are individuals dont lump a race together.

Am I racist if I think that Jews are always trying to get the best deal? Sometimes stereotypes do exist for a reason.

With that said, Beer is being fairly racist. Communicate with the guy beforehand on how much the price is, tell him to only bring cash, and that if he can't bring the cash, then there's no deal. Pretty simple stuff.

The Jews is a whole different story, if we're talking about the Zionists that's a big problem we have in our government, as for it being infiltrated by this group, who in my opinion don't give a **** about the Constitution.
We need a cleansing in Washington.

So I guess yeah its racist. Its also just want to make my life as simple as possible. Which is selfish, so I'm a selfish racist.

Most stereotypes exist for a reason. A lot of people within a race fit that mold. It is still racist because 100% do not fit that mold. We are all individuals. Your statement is equally racist even if a higher percentage fit your stereotype in your head.

A Spaniards calling for Americans to be excised from their own government for being too successful for his taste. I think now I've seen everything.

No they are not.

Stop.
