Reggie Miller on Enes Kanter

So bad that he was benched in crunch time, something the Kanter homers whined about when they believed him acting like a bitch and crying for a trade was justified.

Pretty much every moment he was in the game in the 4th period Suns either ran the ball at him or got him in the high pick and roll. Kanter has had some good moments defensively (against Hibbert for example) for The Thunder, but last night it was readily obvious he was hurting the team.

Stunning that this came from a coach that knows Kanter and has coached him.

Charles Barkley was also high on offense calling him an "offensive juggernaut." Meh, he would be better if he passed on offense as well. His defense is bad. I wish he played more of a hustle nonathletic white guy defense like McGary, Nurkic, Collison, or even Plumlee.

Note this down people.

Suns game was the end of honeymoon for Enes Kanter's defensive hustle streak. Coach figured he is not playing defense because he reacts too slow to anything, whether help defense or fast surprise passes from Russ, so he took him out in crunch. Stats for Russ and Kant are not showing it. Both Russ' shooting and Kant's slow reaction and limited perception inside made them lose, those two were the two major reasons. I bet this will hurt his starting job if he quits hustle and open mindedness like that.

He is so frustrating to watch when he plays like that. The kind of player that I hate the most who cannot comprehend the big picture of the game.

I hope he gets hit by a stone in the head thrown by Lord Almighty so he figures this out and fulfills a part of his potential.

The other frustrating thing watching him was that he looked like he caught up his feet in cement whenever he jumped on two feet, whether for rebound or shot contests.

Was it Ibaka that let a Morris brother Drop 30 on him, because that doesn't seem like Ibaka. . .

Basically what it comes down to is that we were only keeping Kanter OR Gobert. Sure, we said we would have liked to have kept both and had an awesome front court rotation, but realistically that wasn't going to happen. So the onliest question you have to ask yourself is: would you prefer to have Kanter or Gobert?

To me this is a no-brainer, which is why I have moved on.

No what this comes down to is selling a future all star, the best low post scorer in the game at bugger all prices. The Jazz sold him for cash back. This trade was all about saving ownership money and continuing the perpetual rebuild so we dont have to spend contender level quid.

They knew short term excitement over Rudy starting would fill the stands and sell more beers. Throwing away Kanter was a marketing ploy and its working damn well.

Kanter is a perfect fit for OKC, as he is the only low post option the team has ever had. Kanter's ability to offensive rebound and score on the block opens up the perimeter more for Westbrook and Durant (when he comes back). If OKC inputted the triangle offense with Kanter, Durant, and Westbrook, they would win the title next season.

i don't feel like enough attention is being given here to reggie miller, who is the worst national tv announcer there is, by like a massive margin, and has never ever shown any evidence that he knows what he's talking about about anything basketball related. there's a reason why he went straight to tv after his playing career: nobody in the world would have offered him a job with their team because he's like the platonic ideal of idiocy.

that crap sells on tv because you don't have enough mental firepower to check any of your intolerably shortsighted opinions.

he single-handedly tried to ruin all star saturday by trying to get into players heads during the 3 point shootout and saying nonsensical crap like 'he's more of a scorer, not a shooter' which doesn't actually mean anything.

i think i might hate him. i might actually hate reggie miller.

Enes is playing loose, hard, and trying to impress his new teammates. Reminds me of his rookie year. He looks really good at times.

Once he settles in, gets his mins and role reduced, he could regress.

but it could just be that Kanter fits in well with the Thunder. This maybe a situation where everyone benefits.

He is a fine offensive player and a good fit for OKC in a lot of ways, but if you think he played well last night you didn't watch the game.

The entire Suns offense down the stretch was seriously to have 3 guys go stand in the corner, bring Len up to screen Westbrook. They wouldn't even actually run a pick and roll, just force a switch and then iso Bledsoe on Kanter. Bledsoe ended up with like 25 points and only missed 3 or 4 shots, and eventually it forced Brooks to take Kanter out. I saw at least 5 or 6 consecutive possessions with a variation of this, and I think Bledsoe got a layup on all but one.

THIS is why Kanter is a bad player. Try to do that to Rudy and you'd be lucky to get a single basket.

Can kanter pass when they double team him on the post? idk if triangle work just cuz of him lol

You've all been diddled by the Millers. Kanter would have looked just as good here and management knew it. They purposefully didnt surround and use Kanter correctly because they are cheap and tried to hold his value down. Being dirty like that blew up in there faces and now they look dumb to everyone not a Jazz fan. He was in the right demanding a trade for the way Utah abused him. Now he will shine and become a max player this summer. Higher max than Hayward.

I'm not getting nicked by this used car sales pitch. He's also a much better pick and roll defender than you claim. He was last in the league here because they kept switching his coverage to confuse him, and playing him with Burke instead of Dante. He only played 150 minutes with Dante and he looked damn good on defense during that time.

This. The triangle is pretty damn cerebral and requires the big to know the court spacing. It took Shaq a few seasons to learn it. I remember when the Jazz would beat up on the Lakers in the playoffs, as soon as Shaq put his head down, you could send the double, because the ball wasn't coming out again. Once Shaq learned to pass out of the double, the Lakers won championships. I just haven't seen anything out of Kanter to suggest that he can 1. Break a solid double team and 2. Pass out of a double team to an open man more than 3 feet away. All of that is BEFORE we get to the way he plays defense. . .
