Why Can You Give To Or Take Away Rep From Deactivated Users?

I noticed you can still give to or take away rep from posts by users who have their accounts deactivated. Why is that? Someone could have their account deactivated, and if someone really didn't like them they could neg them like crazy. Then if the deactivated poster comes back all their rep would be gone. It just seems weird being able to affect their rep.

Fair enough. But how is this different than if the account was active and does it matter, really? They've deactivated so they have chosen to step away and whether they come back or not, not sure it really matters. My 2 cents.

I think when someone asks for deactivation Jason should tell them they're deactivated and then not do anything.

Like, if you don't want to post here you don't need to bother Jason about it, just stop posting here.

Well I guess my answer to that would be that Jason is gracious enough to oblige when posters who have contributed here decided it is time to give it up. It is their decision after all.

Moreover, they were free to choose to sign up, so from that perspective I think it's only fair that they should also have the option to deactivate if they do so choose.

It would probably just be awesome if they came back to being in the red. Perhaps a list is in order, so the appropriate trains can be prepped to leave the station.

I think deactivated users reputation getting left open for alteration by voting up or down is the right thing to do. What they wrote is what they are renown for so their reputation could be still altered through that even if they are not active to discuss through it.
